D-Link IP Camera

Plenty of people have cameras in their homes nowadays. A lot of moms use cameras instead of the old baby monitors. They are also great for when your children are playing in another room or for your elderly parents. It gives you peace of mind. I was given the chance to review the D-Link DCS 932 L camera and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

The D-Link DCS 932L is a wireless home network camera that shows a clear picture in both regular light and in darkness, courtesy of the built-in Infrared LEDs. The camera connects right into your home wireless network – all you need to do is connect the cables, plug-in the camera, run the short installation wizard and you’re ready to go. You can view the camera image online at mydlink.com, or by installing and running one of their smart phone apps.

I wasn’t very sure where to put the camera since my kids are babies but I realized that there are a million uses for it. I can watch the kids while they play in their rooms and I work. I don’t have to holler or get up a million times. If they start to fight I see it as it happens and can referee better.

I love that this camera is self-standing and simple to plug-in. I tend to move it to where I need it and don’t have to worry about any wires except the power cord. You can also mount the camera to a wall or ceiling, but I prefer the ability to move it around too much to install it anywhere. I do like that we’ve got that option though. I have peace of mind knowing that the house is safe as well. I have the mydlink app installed in my iPhone so it only takes a few seconds to start it up and we can watch as long as we want. It even works over the 3G connection if we’re not in range of a wi-fi connection.

I should tell you that you don’t get audio if you’re using the iPhone app, only if you’re viewing on your computer over mydlink.com. There’s a little bit of static with the audio, but it seems to pick up fairly well.
