If you’re thinking of trying your hand at internet dating, take a moment to learn what draws the right kind of attention to a dating profile. There are words, activities and photo elements you can include to boost your response rate significantly. There’s also a lot to learn about the lies people tell. Dating sites are constantly collecting information about their users, and you can mine that data to streamline your path to success on the site.
The following infographic combines dating profile data from Wired, E-Harmony and OK Cupid to help you create a profile that will get results. According to that data, the ideal woman’s profile includes a photo of her smiling into the camera or making a flirty face. Adding a little cleavage doesn’t hurt, nor do travel photos or pics with pets. The ideal woman describes herself as physically fit and talks about yoga, surfing, and hiking activities as well as her love of fashion and Radiohead. She also describes herself as ambitious, perceptive, optimistic, funny and passionate.
Men catch women’s eyes with a different type of profile pic — one in which they’re looking pensively away from the camera. It’s a good idea for men to include shirtless pics that show off their well-muscled torsos, alongside a photo of them paddling a kayak or cuddling a kitten. Men who have success on dating sites describe themselves as sweet, ambitious, spontaneous and thoughtful. Be careful, though; lots of people fib about their height and income or show out-of-date photos. Scan the infographic for more useful tips on creating an optimized dating profile.

Oh, boy, I just don’t know about dating sites, lol. I think I would wind up with the guy who has lied about everything on his profile…including the fact that he’s really married.
