I am doing a new series here talking more about myself and going deeper into my life for you all. This week I am talking about myself as my parent’s daughter. I was born at home (in the toilet!) and was very premature. I am my parents first child together and if you ask my siblings my daddy’s favorite.
The date on my birth certificate is actually wrong because we didn’t get to the hospital until the day after I was born (I was born at 11:50pm) and we had to wait for a doctor to sign off on everything. It lists no doctor in attendance where the doctor’s name would be. Telling the story of my birth was a favorite story of my daddy’s and he was proud it. I was always embarrassed (not so much now.)
I am the nerd of the group as I love to read and know more about computers and such. I am the smartest (I don’t care what my siblings say) and if you ask my sister in-law she will tell you I am the smartest person she knows. I love to laugh and get my feelings hurt easily. My brother use to say ” Rita is crying so now we have to stop.” It is something I can’t help. Since I am the most sensitive I get picked on by them more than any one else but if they need something I am the first one they call.
I am very much my father’s daughter and that is something I am proud of. However if you look close enough you will see there is plenty of my mother there as well. FYI-yes that is me in the picture.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

You’re beautiful Rita! Thank you for sharing with us! And don’t worry, I’m super sensitive too, always get picked-on first by my family, but am also the one they know they can count on for everything & ANYTHING. I’m also the oldest and always felt I was held to a higher standard than my siblings were. But if you ask my parents, we were always treated equally.
Love the new posts for 2014, and wanted to wish you a Happy New Year!
Rita says
Thank you Elle. Happy New Year to you too.

Beautiful child, beautiful woman! Wow, what a story! I love to read too, but not so much the nerdy smart type. I was over 9 lbs…my mom had a lot of kids and we were huge!
Rita says
Thank you. I was very small. So small I couldn’t even wear diapers. They put the masks doctors wear on me.

What a cute picture of you, your hair was so blonde! How amazing you were born at home in that way so crazy. I am looking forward to learning more about you this year. I tend to be very sensitive too but have gotten better at camouflaging it or suppressing it. However I usually cry at church during the songs we sing, can’t seem to suppress that.
Rita says
I cry at the drop of a hat. My hair was very blonde then once I was a teen it got darker, then it went gray. So now I dye it.

So glad that you shared that with us! You sure were a beautiful little girl and though I have not seen any pics of you as an adult, I am sure you still are! Though I am very tender hearted too, I am not one to cry in front of others very often.
Rita says
I will be sharing some of those as we go along. Maybe I could hire a team to help me look great first!

It’s lovely to read more about you. I particulary love your birth story (I found your blog last year around the time you started 30 Days of Me). You put a lot of youself into your blog posts, so it’s great to get the backstory!

Wow You have been a go getter from the minute of your arrival. I love this story. It’s funny how siblings have no problem teasing, but they know who to call when they need something. Your picture is great. Your still just as beautiful!

I think it’s great that you will be sharing more about yourself. Sounds like you have a very interesting birth story. So, do you celebrate 2 birthdays, each year, one on the date of our birth and one on the date of your birth certificate assignment? So, you said you were born from home. Was that via a midwife or did your mom give birth, by herself?

you were a beautiful little girl who grew up to be an amazing woman. Plus it seems like a very cool birth story your mom and you can tell for a lifetime. I love those types of stories.
