Duffy Brown has done it again! I have been waiting for Demise in Denim (which picks up where the novella Dead Man Walker leaves off)because I really wanted to find out where the relationship with Walker and Reagan was going. I mean I had to wait forever for them to finally kiss and then a million other things happen. Finally they have a scorching kiss in but Walker has to leave because he is on the run. OMG!! Talk about leaving a girl’s hormones raging! However I am getting ahead of myself!
About the Book
It’s springtime in Savannah, Georgia, in the newest Consignment Shop Mystery from the national bestselling author of Pearls and Poison. The azaleas and magnolias are in bloom—and Walker Boone is on the run. . .
When Reagan Summerside turned the first floor of her old Victorian home into a consignment shop, she never imagined she’d be harboring a fugitive in her attic. But after a dead man is found in a bathtub and local lawyer Walker Boone is accused of doing the dirty deed, she suddenly has a new houseguest.
Having the lawyer who took her to the cleaners in her divorce settlement—and who has been getting under her skin ever since—in close proximity is enough to drive Reagan to distraction. For the sake of her sanity—and Walker’s freedom—they need to put their heads together to find out who is trying to get the lawyer out of the picture . . .
My Thoughts
I was never expecting the ending I got! Never in five million years and it was perfect! Reagan is trying to help out Walker by pretending she hates him in order to find the real killer. The only problem is that every time his name is mentioned she gets a dopey look on her face that clearly says she has the hots for him. Walker is in hiding and I admit that I suspected he was hiding out where he was simply because he wants to protect Reagan and she is a trouble magnet. I can’t believe he didn’t blow a gasket though when he found out what she did to his ’57 Chevy. The whole book everyone keeps telling her what is going to happen to her about eating in the car. Even Mr. On the Run Himself makes a comment about her eating in his car. Yet when he finds out the worst he is calm and collected.
My favorite scene though is when the irritating cop Deckard calls Reagan Blondie which is Boone’s nickname for her.
Boone jumped up and gave Deckard a solid right hook to the jaw along with, “Never call her Blondie.”
It’s great and really shows how Boone feels. There is also so some surprising news about Reagan’s house, that she fought for in her divorce that I didn’t expect but am happy about. Aunt Kiki, Chantilly, and Mercedes all make an appearance as does Big Joey and they are as wonderful as always. The dog snoring and Reagan being blamed for it was pretty funny as well. I swear these books just keep getting better and better with the each one. I can’t wait for the next.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I like the idea that the book is short so that you can finish it quickly. The plot sounds great! I really love a book that I can’t figure out what’s happening.
