No this isn’t a test although you may be quizzed on it later! The other day some of the boys were discussing some car and I made the remark that I thought they were named for Nicola Tesla. Well I thought I was right and they looked at me like I was crazy and asked who in the world that was. In that moment I got to showcase my geek and share the history of electricity! Well after a few other moments.
Truthfully I had heard of Tesla in school (you know when dinosaurs roamed) but hadn’t remembered him until I saw a television program where he was mentioned a few times. So when the boys brought up this car I was certain that was who it was named for. I went on to say something about Edison only to be told that I didn’t know what I was talking about that Benjamin Franklin invented electricity.
Well I never said that Edison invented electricity but then again neither did Franklin. He simply proved the existence of electricity when he flew his kite. Electricity as we know would come later. All in all though I was able to put those big dummies in their place. Although I will admit that my brother laughed the whole time and told them they should have just listened to me because I know what I am talking about.
Those two awesome images I shared with you are just a little piece of the history of electricity that you can read and learn more about. Honestly I bet you would be surprised how much you actually know even if the things that you know are from movies. There are a few great quotes about those who lit up our world in movies.
