I love when I am able to get something that is not only cute but unique for the kids to play with. That is why when I was contacted by Dolly-Mamas about their KuKu Dolls I knew it was something that I have to know more about. Their motto is “They Make You Smile.” Which I adore and the truth is they do make you smile.
We received the Ella KuKu Doll and as you can see she is tan which I love because she looks more like Maggie. It is rare that we find a doll that looks similar to her and I think it is important for her to know that dolls, like people, come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. Not that she understands all that at her age. She was knitted in Uganda by moms and grandmas of Connect-Africa Foundation who use the money to pay school tuition and household expenses. I love that as well.
Ella can be hugged and that is one of the things that the Dolly Mamas realized when they began making dolls for children in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. What could be a better reason for starting a business and a portion of all profits go to benefit women and children.
There is a fairly good variety of dolls to choose from including a few animals and yes you can get some that are not tan like Ella. Maggie loves Ella and for that I am grateful, right now things are tough and kids pick up on that. Every night when I put her in her crib she she reaches for Ella and falls asleep with her. Then I move poor Ella to the nightstand because I am that neurotic parent who is overly cautious. I can’t help it. I had an uncle who choked to death on a pacifier when he was an infant. First thing every morning though Ella is right back where she belongs when Mags wakes up and she just looks at her and smiles.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
