- Remove Cupboard Doors – Okay, right now you are cringing at the thought of your teenager emptying the dishwasher and having no doors to hide the mess left behind from a rushed job. You may be underestimating them. Organize the cupboards and give everything an official home, and there is a good chance they will stay looking like that. You don’t have to remove all the cupboard doors either. Keep them on the snack cupboard, if you are confident you will never escape the cluttered chaotic environment of those three shelves.
- Wall Fountains – Most people put wall fountains in their living room or master bedroom, but wall fountains are actually ideal for the kitchen. It is very common to forget to provide a focal point in this room, but it is important to have. These soothing pieces of art naturally become a focal point. Plus, the sound will soothe your mind and help keep you calm when your child tells you they need 100 cupcakes for school tomorrow. You can pick one up online from stores like SoothingWalls.com.
- Paint – White has long been a popular color in the kitchen, primarily because it matches everything and you can buy cans of it really cheap. If you love the look of a bold accent wall, but have not had time to incorporate one into your home, now is the time! One wall can make the room look like it was completely redone. Brick red, tangerine, and lime green are popular right now. Gray looks great in an industrial-style kitchen with stainless steel appliances and wrought iron lighting.
- Backsplash – If you have not shopped for backsplashes in the past few years you will be quite surprised by the available selection. The subway tile-look is very hot right now.
- Painted Shades – An easy way to change the look by season or holiday is by painting either fabric Roman shades or temporary paper shades. Shades with Santa and reindeer turn to snowmen after the holidays. Red hearts welcome February and Easter eggs and pretty pastels go up for Easter. This is a craft you can do with your kids, too.

Thank you for sharing this post with us. Another thing you can do is check the OOPS! pile of paint at Home Depot and Lowes, a lot of times you can get a nice color that you like for cheap just because someone returned it.

Really nice ideas here and this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a wall fountain – they are cool!
