The Latino culture is so rich in music, food, family values, and so much more which has influenced my family so much. My husband was not able to get the education he wanted because growing up in Mexico meant money was tight and he went straight to work to help support the family. He came to the US because he wanted to make sure his children had more. He told me all his hopes and dreams when we first met and how important instilling culture in our children was to him. I was right on board with him because I grew up in a home where education and family were always the top priorities.
Our children are immersed in our cultures everyday, so much so that they already know what they want to do when they grow up. Victoria wants to be a chef because she wants to own her own restaurant that serves Mexican-American food. I m not sure what she means by that but it;s a goal and we are more than happy to support her. Daniel wants to be a teacher and teach English and Spanish, again I am not sure if that is possible but who knows. The biggest worry hubby and I have is how we are going to pay for college for all the kids and Daniel’s will be coming before we blink.
I have learned that the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is committed to having a college degree in every Latino household by the year 2025 and that Coca-Cola is helping them achieve that goal. Can you imagine that? The thought that my children can apply and possibly get a scholarship would mean an education that we may not be able to afford to give them. As a mother it makes me so thankful that there are organizations out there to help.
Applying for a scholarship is easy, all you have to do is between now and the 31st of October is fill out the HSF application. I do want to tell you that the scholarships are available for all heritages/ethnicities as I didn’t want anyone to get upset. If your child is heading to college or even if you want to go back to college then go and apply for a scholarship now! Make sure your children are able to reach their dreams and goal or show your young children that you can reach your dreams and goals by reaching out and grabbing yours.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Sounds like the story of my life. My parents came to the USA so that their kids could have a better life. They have always been supportive and have pushed us to get and education. I have my bachelor’s in biology and hope to continue my education for now I am a SAHM because I feel that is important to me. I know that I have made my parent proud by getting my education.
