Next week is Thanksgiving and I don’t know about y’all but I am more than ready for it. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. It is the one holiday that is all about the food! I know! I know! Half of you just went “WHAT?” and the other half agreed with me.
Think about it for a minute. Yes, we spend time giving thanks on Thanksgiving but what do we spend the most prep and time on….the food. For those who argue that we just as much time on all of this at Christmas you’re right. however, we also spend weeks buying and wrapping gifts, decorating, etc.
Thanksgiving we do all that work just to eat. I’m not knocking it at all. I’m loving it! This year my older brother is coming to spend some time with us and have Thanksgiving together. We haven’t had Thanksgiving together in over three years.
While that means we are going to be blessed by being together it also means more work. The good thing about this particular brother (no he is not the one that lives in South Carolina and I visit every year) is that he will do some of the cooking. He is like Betty Crocker and Bobby Flay all rolled into one. He’s already called me five times to remind to thaw out the turkey for Wednesday night but not to do anything else to it. Actually he said and I quote “Don’t touch my turkey! Just thaw it out and have ready!”
Then he proceeded to tell what kind of butter to make sure I had, the amount of aluminum foil he would need right down to the measurements, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I stopped listening to after three minutes. I told him to text me his list.
Anyway, more work means I will be taking some time off. In fact this will more than likely be the last post until after Thanksgiving here are Rita Reviews. Unless something just inspires me I will be taking the next week off to prep which means cleaning the yard and house.
I will be checking emails each afternoon and respond to anything pressing from anyone. If you have a question or a comment feel free to ask me and I will get back with you. Other than that I’m gonna pull out my fat pants and enjoy our meal on Thanksgiving. Although I will say it is diabetic friendly and I will only be eating a slice of pecan pie this year. I know, I want to cry about it too!
Just remember I will be answering emails but other than that I will be MIA from Rita Reviews for the next week. There are scheduled posts over on God, Fitness, & Mental Illness as well as Wicked Romance for you to enjoy. I will be back next with more of the Holiday gift guide as well as a giveaway.
I hope that if you celebrate it that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
