A couple of days ago I was sitting at my desk when a knock came to my front door. I looked over and could make out a police officer standing there. All I could see was his uniform and sidearm through the window. In true Southern fashion I turned to the room at large and said “The cops are here.” Of course the response was from Ma who promptly said “WHAT!” The rest of the family kept right on sleeping as it was nap time. So we went to the door to see what was going on.
The police office was very nice and told us he had an Easter basket for us. At first we were like “huh?” I mean I never heard of a police department delivering Easter baskets to random people. If that was what he was doing talk about awesome! He goes out to his car and opens the trunk. Then returns to us with a box that looked like it had been run over by a train. Sure enough there was an Easter basket. Well more importantly, what was left of a basket. He told us he found in the middle of the road in town. His best guess was that it fell off the FedEx truck and that I should call them.
I wasn’t expecting any delivery that day and after I checked the sender I discovered that one of the companies I work with regularly sent out the basket. Just a nice gesture to say thank you. One that FedEx took and twisted into one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I looked up their phone number and placed a call. When I got a FedEx representative I told them what happened to my package.
His first response was “What do you want us to do about it?” WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY? was the thought that went trough my brain. Again I explained that the police department delivered my package because it had apparently fell off the truck. It had been run over God knows how many times. He asked me for the tracking number. Then told me he would let whoever know it was delivered and thanked me for letting them know. Then he hung up on me. He never said I’m sorry that happened. You can file a claim. Nothing!
He was the rudest person I have ever had to deal with. While I had no intention of filing a claim on something that was suppose to be a gift I at the least expected a little sympathy from the company that caused the damaged. After all typically their trucks back doors are closed and latched shut. This is actually the second time I had an ordeal with FedEx and this one has left a bad taste in my mouth. I can’t believe a company would think that speaking with a customer this way was okay. I attempted to find an email or something for someone other than customer service with FedEx but was not able to. I did find a media relations email but it said that only media request emails would be responded to. I didn’t bother because I figured it would get deleted.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Wow. That’s pretty awful. But how nice of the police officer to bring you the package! So it’s a big FedEx fail (on many levels) but a very positive interaction with the police.
(Personally, I would have had a cow if I looked out my window and there was a cop there.)

I thought about calling the article “the day the cops came!” We don’t get a lot of people out here and to have the police it was interesting. He was super nice and I was grateful.

Oh wow!! That is sad that your package got ruined but SO kind of the police officer to bring it to you!
Rita says
It was kind and like I said he was super nice. it was FedEx that really made me want to punch someone.

What! Geez. Don’t these companies vet their customer service people? I’m shocked at his behavior and I would have lost my Southern manners. He definitely does not get offered a glass of tea. ? Kudos to the cop though.
Rita says
Yeah he was horrible and if I could have reached through the phone to slap him I would have. The cop was awesome!
Victiria says
Oh no! Awful.

Try taking your complaint to the social media forum. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. Twitter is @FedEx Instagram is fedex, and Facebook is FedEx. In no way, shape, or form is that kind of customer service acceptable. You have a powerful tool at your fingertips, you should definitely use it. If you don’t, they’ll continue to assume that that level of service is acceptable. Call’ em out!

I agree with Donna that you should complain on their FB page. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE behavior from one of their employees.

WOW! There’s nothing else I can say, just, WOW!
