Have you noticed that many of my pictures are much better than they have been in the past? Well there is a reason for that. All bloggers know that natural light is best for your pictures but what can you do when that just isn’t possible? I mean the inside of my home is dark because it is paneled and when the weather just isn’t cooperating where does that leave you? If you have a dSLR camera, you really have a few choices; use a tripod, and super low shutter speed (cross your fingers and hope for the best), use the dreaded on camera flash, or spend some money on more expensive equipment and props.
Well I have discovered something that will help me get great pictures without costing me an arm and a leg. Professor Kobre’s Lightscoop is a smart low-tech device that creates soft, flattering light by redirecting your camera’s pop-up flash to a ceiling or wall. The Lightscoop is one of those tools that is so small but makes such a huge difference in your life. I actually received the Lightscoop Jr to review because it was the model my camera needed. This puppy is just what every photo taking mom needs! They make the perfect stocking stuffers as well!
A Little More Info:
- The website has a list of compatible cameras
- For indoor use (you need walls or ceiling to bounce light)
- Available in Original scoop and Warming scoop

Oh I could really use one of these. Half of my pictures are to dark. Thanks for sharing.
wow! there is a very considerable difference between the photos
i LOVE taking pictures … my one year old girl has min 1000 photos 🙂 So this is for me 🙂
What a great gadget. I hate it when an otherwise great picture turns out to be too dark! Now if only I had the DSLR to use it with!
Wow, that certainly is a significant change! Who knew that a slight addition could make a great photo!
That little gadget is amazing. I hope that when I get a dslr someday I can get one of these to go with it. I love taking pictures and I used to have an slr camera I just loved, but alas, it is just too old. Thanks for sharing the tip.

How cool! I love taking pictures and I run across low light issues from time to time. I might need to buy one of these babies to help me with my photography. Thanks for the post and before and after pics.
Wow that really is a big difference…. I hate when you capture (or think you are) a great picture of the kids and low and behold it is so dark you can barely see it… I too would love to have a fancy camera, but until the kids are grown (out of college) which will be at least 22 years since my youngest is only 19 months I have a long way to go before that will happen haha!
Oh wow. What a difference that makes. I, too, live in a dark house. This would be really grand for the photos of the animals as I always seem to get the dreaded eye reflection if I use a flash.
Hmm needed this a while back for a shot. Gonna give that shot another try when I get the chance if I get a hold of this product. Before, it ended up looking like a photo taken with an old school film camera because of the lack of light.
Sounds like a cool too, if I get a camera like this I will have to purchase on of these.
This is such a great idea! I’ll have to try this, as I can’t stand the on-camera flash!
I could really use one of these, love taking pictures 🙂
I could really use one of this ! Unfortunately for me a I live in a country where I need to catch some good lightening and most of the times I don’t 🙁
That’s awesome! I need one for my dslr.
Hi Rita,
I’m Mary Thorsby, the new CEO for Lightscoop. I’m going through past reviews and found your post today — I love it! So happy that you’re seeing such nice results with your indoor pictures. The Lightscoop Jr. is great for compact cameras, and we have the Deluxe for larger DSLR cameras. Thanks so much for helping us spread the word!
Best, Mary
I could use this because one of the problems that I encounter is that my pictures are too dark. It can’t be helped because even if I am outside with so many trees surrounding our home, it still may be too dark.
I need all the help I can get. I do have a Dummies book on how to take better pics, lol. I’m learning though and thank you for reminding me to keep at it!
This would be useful for me because my pictures are always too dark. I find that I don’t end up using most of them because of this problem.
I totally need this, my pictures are always either washed out or too dark! my poor son always ends up only half visible.
My husband would love this. He is the photo bug in the house. I try but still have a long long way to go.
I love taking photos and this would make them even better!
The lighting in our house is bad so this would be great
I like ECHO PARK because of the dots!
I need it for my camera because the light makes a huge difference! And we don’t have enough lighting in our house to take good pictures.
I got a new camera last year for Christmas and my pictures have improved but this would make an even bigger improvement. I hadn’t heard of this before – it sounds awesome!
I’d love to have this because photography is something I can still do as far as hobbies. My equip is not the best, esp. have not flash equp. I’d like to be able to take some decent pics inside and really never get too lucky with that and a dark home without much for natural lighting and not many windows. Flash is so necessary!
I need this because I got a T3i for Christmas and the lighting situation in my house is not the best. I want to take the best photos of my kiddos (4 & 6) that I can 🙂
I would love this for better picture taking
I’ve just turned my love of photography into a part-time business….this would be a awesome tool to use!
