One thing I can certainly be grateful for in 2022 is the fact that as a culture we are beginning to embrace our own bodies. We no longer look to the skinny, underfed looking models for fitness motivation. We understand airbrushing and photoshopping. now, we look to be healthy without harming ourselves if at all possible. However, I will say that workouts aren’t all that much fun. I do it but I want to get a workout in while having fun. Of course that means stepping outside of comfort zone.
Honestly, I want more than just a fun workout. I want a life filled with adventure and joy. While my body won’t be able to do everything on the list that I have made I will be doing some of them. My new goal and plan is to fill my life with all of the adventure and fun that I can. I don’t want to come tot he end of it and have a lot of regret. Not to mention I used to do some of the things on my list. I want to learn to surf, to jump out of a plane (which I most likely won’t be able to do), and so much more.
One thing I can tell you is that you don’t want to find yourself in the position wanting to do all of these things only to discover that your body is not capable of those things. do you have a hobby or something that you want to do? Do you want to climb mountains or run a 10k? It is never too late to start doing those things.
Creating Your List
Just start writing down all of the things that you want to do that are not only fun but also fitness-oriented. Things that will allow you to get in some exercise like pole fitness brisbane without it being a workout. Our workouts are frequently structured, and we frequently find reasons not to do them for the day. On the days that you don’t want to workout, pick something off your list and do it. In fact, plan your weekend around doing the things on your list.
Don’t Know Where To Start?
Here is my small list of fun fitness things to give a try. I hope they inspire your own adventure.
- Kickboxing: I did that ty-bow thing in my twenties to lose weight. I actually lost a lot and honestly this could be a fun sort of work out.
- Belly-dancing: I started this a few years ago and then gave it up. Another one of those things that you never finish. I actually started this as a way to spice things up in my marriage so that may be why I gave it up.
- Roller-blading: I can’t actually do this because of my ankle, but I bet it would be so much fun.
- Rock climbing: I used to do this some when I was younger but stopped for some reason.
- Pole dancing: I really want to try this. I worry that I won’t be able to actually pick my weight up. I have to figure out how to do it with positional vertigo.
- Surfing: I told you I want to learn to do this. I don’t live n a place where this would be something I could do all the time but I bet it is fun.
- Tennis: I tried this once with my older brother’s first wife. We looked like idiots because we didn’t know what we were doing. This is one that I’m not sure about but I wrote it on my list anyway.
- Badminton: I admit that I do play this sometimes with my younger brother and his friends. It is fun and his wife is super serious about it. She talks all kinds of smack. At the end we are give out but got in plenty of exercise without even trying.
- Swimming: This is another that I already do. It is so much fun and you never know how much exercise you actually did until the day is over. The best part of swimming at the pool or lake is when you go home, put on dry clothes, and take a nap in the air conditioned house.
- Hula-hoop: I used to be good at this when I was really young. Now, there is no telling. It would probably fall the moment I got started. I don’t know that this is something overweight, heavy around the middle people can do but what do I know.
- Hiking: I do this, although in the last year it hasn’t been as much as I have in the past. I love this because while it is a slow walk the terrain is always changing which challenges me. For me I can no longer go too far off on trails and I always need a group with me now because I have to have access to medical help if needed. However, it is my dream to be able to do this once again.
Those are just a few things that are on my list. Please share anything on your list that is different or even you thought on the items I have listed. When fitness is fun we tend to do it more often. Being fit isn’t always a marathon. Sometimes it is a slow hike every other weekend. Whatever you do to get out there and try is all that matters.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
