Guess what? The Jungle Book Diamond Edition Blu-ray and Digital is out tomorrow and we have been having a swinging familia time enjoying the movie and making a few treats to go along with it! We spent some time this afternoon watching the movie and as you can see even Abuelita was taking time out of her nap to enjoy it with us.
This is Disney at its best if you ask me. I love this movie and as soon as The Bare Necessities begins I start singing along. It is natural and I can’t help myself. I love that my children enjoy watching this as well. It the movie that I don’t mind watching over and over again (it happens when you have small ninos.) One thing we love doing as a familia is to comer (eat) and we are great it. In fact I have two treats that we encanta and I will share them con you!
Jungle Turnovers
Mi madre use to make these and I reinvented them! They are simple and easy and provide a great snack. They actually call for very little of work or ingredients. You will need:
- Biscuit Mix (one of those boxed kinds)
- Fresh fruit (cut into small cubes-your choice)
Mix the biscuit mix according to the directions. Add water as you need to get the texture you want. Take a small hand full of dough and flatten it out a bit. Spoon your fresh fruit on top. We used Pineapple and Mango for ours. Take another hand full of dough, place on top of fruit and press the edges together to seal it. Bake on 350 degrees until golden brown.
Fruit Soda
I make these from time to time as well. I take fresh fruit and puree it in the blender. Take the puree and strain it in a mesh strainer. Then I put it back into the blender (the ninos hate pulp!) We have a soda maker so I take and carbonate a container of water and then add a little of the water to the fruit puree. No sugar! Which makes me super feliz!!

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

This book and movie are still one of my all time favorites. It is such a good story and it doesn’t matter how many times you have seen it. You can watch it over and over. I will have to pick up a copy for us.

My favorite was always the voice of Phil Harris doing the bear. We use to check out old time radio tapes from the library and listen to the Phil Harris show. We all thought he was just so funny. Seeing Jungle Book always brings me back to those carefree happy times as a kid.
