It is Family Friday and every Friday I thought I would bring you something about my family. Maybe an update or some sort of antidote on the things going on in our lives. I don’t share a whole lot of some of the everyday things that we do and this is just a way to do that as well as to catch up with all of you and things going on in your families lives.
Currently today we are all waiting to see how this weather is going to affect us. Right now it is raining and since public schools have been closed for the day the kids felt that they needed a day off as well. That didn’t work as well as they hoped it would and instead only got to take a half day off. They are all watching out the windows in the hopes that they will see snow but the truth is they are more than likely just going to see freezing rain.
Me? Well I have been running around all morning making sure that I had everything we would need in case the power goes out. No I’m not talking about bread and milk but more like firewood, extra blankets, flashlights, batteries, etc. I have made sure that every device is completely charged and that I have everything ready. Yes that makes me sound crazy but I’ve had to go without power for a week in an ice storm before so I try to be ready.
I will admit though that I am secretly hoping for snow as well. I am one of those people who loves snow and I can’t wait to head out into it with the kids if it happens. Don’t worry I will post pictures of any fun we have.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

You don’t sound crazy but rather smart and logical. I will make a note of those so I’ll be ready in case a power outage happens.

I try to be as practical as possible although there are times when I actually am a little more crazy.

The power here goes out a lot more than what should be normal, so I’m with you as far as your preparation goes. We also make sure we’ve got jugs of water (I use the ones cat litter comes in) ready for flushing the toilets, because we’re on a well and without power we’ve got no water. Ugh.
Anyway, I’m having a quiet weekend, as my spouse is away spending some much-needed guy time with his best friend. So it’s just me and the dogs and the cat and the fish. It did snow a little this morning, but just a light coating, enough to make it look pretty outside. Good luck!!

I hope your weekend was quiet and wonderful. we have water when the power goes out but as someone who once had to take an ice cold shower, it is rough!

Oh we have been really cold here….going to -9 tonight…which is a little warm up for us. This week we had windchills -30 the past couple days! Was so cold! Tomorrow we make it up to 6 degrees….yeah!
Rita says
Oh my goodness! That is cold but I would love it!

Sounds like you are planning ahead so when it snows and the power goes out you can enjoy it. I would be more than happy to share some snow with you. We’ve had more snow than we have in 16 years and 3 snow days – unheard of!!!
Rita says
That is a lot of snow and I will happily take some of it off of your hands.

All the kids I know were hoping the snow would come Thursday night! lol. We got just a few inches. I think the south got hit harder than we did in DC Metro.
Rita says
We didn’t get anywhere near what they were calling for but I am pretty far south.

You’re welcome to the snow we’ve had in Colorado this week. And the very cold temps too.
Rita says
I will take it! 🙂

After living through one ice storm, I too will always make sure my devices are charged. It was terrible the first time around!
Rita says
I agree! Growing up I have lived through many ice storms and even a blizzard or two but now with all the different devices I make sure they are charged and ready.

Weather here has been crazy..we haven’t received snow in December since I don’t know when but this year it snowed so much in December..at least we had a white Christmas..January starting off the same..snow and snow and more snow..so pretty to look at but not a fan of going out in the cold
Rita says
I have never had a white Christmas. My brother and I are planning on taking everyone out to Colorado or something one year. you know when we win the lottery and can afford to take the whole family.

That is pretty smart to get all your devices charged before a storm. The weather here has been weird. It was 70 last week then rain then today’s high was in the 30’s. It flurried a little here but nothing stuck. Back to 70s later this week!
