Family Friendly Cars for Moms

Dec 10, 2011 | Rita

Family Friendly Cars for Moms
Deciding on a family friendly car for a mom is a big decision – one that is bound to affect all of the members of the family. Cost, safety and the amount of passengers that comfortably fit inside, along with kiddie cargo, and possibly the family pet; are all things to take into consideration. Minivans are the obvious choice but there are other selections that can accomplish the job. Ultimately the choice should depend on the individual needs of the buyer. The Dodge Durango is a sport utility vehicle provides space for seven passengers with plenty of cargo space. The turning radius on this vehicle is small enough to allow for easy city maneuvering and a rear back up camera and park assist help with parking. Collision warning systems and blind spot warning help prevent accidents. Full front, rear and side airbag systems ensure passenger safety in the event of a crash. Fuel consumption is 14/20 city and highway respectively.

The Chrysler Town & Country minivan seats seven and includes second and third row fold down seats. Storage bins, rear tabletop and dual DVD screens make this cabin cozy and family friendly. Fuel economy is 17/25, city/hwy respectively. Front passenger airbags and third row side airbags are standard safety features and blind spot and cross path detection systems aid in accident prevention.

At close to $40,000 the Volvo XC90 is the most expensive car on the list. This crossover seats seven passengers. It has two pilot seats in the front, three seats in the middle row and two seats in the back row. World-renowned Volvo safety features are standard across the board in this model. Front, side and rear impact air bags; anti-skid system, whiplash protection system and rollover protection system all work together to protect the passengers in the event of an accident. Fuel economy is 16/23 city/hwy respectively.

Whether it is a SUV, crossover, or minivan you are after, you are sure to find what you are looking for in one of these three vehicles. Each has comparable fuel economy estimates, safety features and cargo space. The most difficult factor in deciding will likely be what model the kids prefer.

When considering what family car to purchase keep in mind it is also important that you know the true value of the car that you’re purchasing.
