Wouldn’t you just love to say you have been to Timbuktu? Somethings to do there include visiting Dyingerey Ber Mosque which could be interesting! Dyingerey Ber Mosque is the oldest mosques in West Africa dating back to the 14th century. You can go inside the mosque but sometimes only with a guide (not sure why) and once inside you will see a forest of 100 sturdy pillars among other things.
Another place the see in Timbuktu is the Ethnological Museum which is a very significant site near Sidi Yahiya Mosque. It actually contains the well of Bouctou, where Timbuktu was founded. As well as a variety of exhibits including clothing, musical instruments, jewellery and games among other things.

Where would you like to go this week?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Such an interesting choice. I have heard of Timbuktu, but honestly, knew so little about it. I wasn’t even sure it was real (hate to admit that). How fun to say that is where you are going or where you have been. I might have to dig in and find out a little more about it. Thanks for sharing. I like the mini escape. 🙂

I remember as a kid my parents would joke about going to Timbuktu so I grew up thinking it was some imaginary place they liked to joke about. Well the joke was on me when I found out it was a real place. I love the photo you chose!

Very cool! I would love to go just to be able to say that I had! I’ve only really heard of it as a popular reference to refer to any far away place. I had no idea where it actually was!
