Let’s talk about siblings today. I’ve told y’all that I have three siblings. Well today I want to share a little bit about my favorite one whose birthday is today. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE!! Not that he will read this but still, at least I can say I posted it.
That saying in the picture is one that I have heard a dozen times. If course my version is different in that my brother is forever telling me that he will be selecting my nursing home and he is going to pick the worst one ever. It’s funny how siblings can say things like to one another and get away with it. If anyone else said that I would be furious but I know that he loves me and doesn’t mean it.
Just the other day my younger brother made a reference to this. I sent him a picture of the ham salad I had made. After he called me some names (he only gets ham salad if his friend’s wife makes it) he told me he was going to find the worst nursing home out there for me. Of course, he then sent me a picture of the ice cream he was having from some fancy ice cream parlor.
The name calling went on for about thirty minutes before he needed to ask me something serious. We do that. We call each other names, talk smack for eating foods that none of us really needs, but we do love one another. We will all drive for four hours to help take of one another’s kids while they are in the emergency room, or keep their pets while on vacation. Although I still draw the line at cows. “I don’t care what you say Charlie I am not the person to tend to your cows! They freak me out more than a little bit and I told you that farmers don’t get to take vacations.”
My younger brother wants cows, black Angus cows to be more specific. When I asked him what he knew about cows his response was “I know they taste good.” Then I told him he couldn’t take all of his vacations because he had to tend his cows. His response was “That’s what I got a Rita for.” Can y’all see me tending cows? My older brother said “What’s she gonna do? Read to them?” That’s pretty much what would end up happening to. At least I know my siblings love me even when I want to smack them.
He thinks he wants to be John Dutton but his wife cries at the rodeo so I don’ know how all of this is suppose to work out. Of course if he picks up and moves to Montana I will say that I will pick up and move right behind him. It is the dream place to live (one of them) for both of us and he wouldn’t survive without me ut there telling what he’s doing wrong.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I envy people who have siblings they are close to. I have 2 half-siblings but I didn’t grow up with them so I’m not in touch with them at all. Because I grew up as an only child, I really wanted my own children to have siblings. That’s a big reason why I have 4 kids.

This was a fun post to read. Sounds like you two have a wonderful relationship.

My brother’s ten years older than I am, so he gave me a lot of cringe-inducing dad-like speeches! (Our own dad didn’t really do that…)

It’s great that you and your brother are so close. I have 3 siblings and we have had many bumps in the road through the years and wished we were a lot closer.

My best friend was my older sister. She was only 13 months older than me. She died of Ovarian Cancer. She fought that battle for 3 and a half years and left behind a husband, a 12-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son. When she died, I literally had this wailing sound that came out from within me. The pain was so hard, I was inconsolable for so long. Both my parents are gone, and it felt nothing like the hurt I felt when she died.
