As a blogger this is something I struggle with more than you can possible know. Finding topics to write about is not always easy. I sometimes make a list for the next month and then change it a dozen times before I make a final decision. So just how to do I go about finding topics? It’s not as technical as you may think. It could be technical for some bloggers but for me it isn’t. There are still aspects that I need to work more on but topics are fairly easy.
The most obvious topics for articles are the product reviews and the sponsored posts I do. With product reviews, I have a direction sort of already in mind. With sponsored posts the sponsor usually gives me the direction but not always. They may just give me links and leave me to come up with something. Like I said those are the easiest topics for the obvious reasons.
Another easy and often the articles I write about are family. Sharing that the family is doing or food we are eating, etc. Things that happen everyday typically end up in my possible article journal I keep. That is truly the easiest place to find post topics. There are days when my kids will say something and all I can think I want to share it with all of you. There are others times that I am so angry I share that as well.
Another place is through research. I may suggest you check out a certain person like, Alex Shivraj, because I read and article about them or came across them in my everyday life or research. They may have information important to the article I am writing or the event I am discussing. I spend an hour or two every day reading other blogs and researching news events or even just topics that I know I want to cover.
I occasionally write about news topics. I will admit there are a few current topics that I always steer away from. I don’t want to upset people and I will admit there may be a topic that I cover next year that could irritate some people. It is just something I feel strongly about.
Another thing that I have to do is make sure my topics and articles are SEO ready. Don’t worry if you don’t know what all that is. I didn’t when I first started either. SEO is search engine optimization which means making your articles ready for search engines to find it.You can use a company like Ignite Digital to help you with your SEO marketing and more. I am still learning about all of this and I promise you that I am only okay at it. But I am getting better
Sometimes I will see something on social media and think I want to know more about it. If it interests me enough I will do some more research, add it to my list, and see where it takes me. There are times when it takes me down a dead end while other times I get something great.
