I don’t know it is in your house but the first of the month for me means bills and other financial matters which is just blah! I always start the day so hopeful because it is the first of the month and new beginnings and all that and then I remember I have a stack of bills on my desk that need to be paid and dealt with. Then there is the first of the month blog accounting that I do.
Needless to say I am usually up very early the first day or first business day of every month. First thing I do is pay all of the bills that need to be paid, balance my check book, and then typically swear I am going to spend less this month. I good thirty minutes of self judgement and then I am ready to move on to my next task. That is typically behind the scenes blog work. I go through and check any payments that I should have received during the previous month were actually received.
I also send out any inquires if I need to. Make sure all of the products I reviewed for the previous month were put into my accounting spreadsheet for tax purposes. That’s right if you didn’t know any item I receive I am required to pay taxes on. I have a handy spreadsheet where I put the product information as well as the current retail value when I receive it then I make sure that I put the link to the site it was on (and a quick screenshot) as well as a couple of others if it is available from multiple retailers. This helps me at tax time when I put in the depreciated value of the item. I don’t have to search all over the place since I have already done that.
After all of the accounting and balance the work books I go through and list my current site and social media stats for when I need them during the month. I also go through and make any giveaways that need to be closed out are as well as check for broken links and such. Then I make sure that my monthly schedule is ready for. I am typically at the computer doing all of this for about five hours that day. Then I have everything else to do as well so I try to schedule any posts ahead of time if possible.
My first of the month is spent helping my Elderly Father with his bills and then doing mine. It is a lot of work, but I have to help my Dad! I can not wait until the weekend when it will be more comfortable and quiet.
It is so wonderful that you help him. It is important and I hope that your weekend is filled with peace and quiet.
