Finding toys for little ones to play with is not always easy. At least it isn’t for me! I tend to be picky when it comes to toys but Premium Joy is certainly now on my list of approved companies. Their products are not only engaging but I adore the bright, vibrant colors. There is just something about a toy that is bright and vibrant that makes you want to pick it up and play with it.
Premium Joy sent us a their Foam Building Blocks to give a test run and I must say we are loving them. This set has 68 foam pieces in it which is more than enough to keep little ones entertained for hours. At least, that is the case around here.
I admit that Sam and Baby James both seem to enjoy stacking them then knocking them over. The set includes rectangle blocks, squares, circles, triangles, and half moon shapes. they are for ages 3 and up. Now Baby James is not yet three but he does well with them. He is a bit advanced for his age. I would suggest that you go by the age suggested yet you know your child and what they could handle.
They are made out of a out of sturdy, long-lasting, quality foam that is very bright in primary colors. Each one is soft to the touch so when they throw them (or knock them over) they don’t hurt. The foam thickness is about 5/3 inches. So they are big enough for little ones not to swallow them but thin enough they can easily pick them up with one hand. That’s important to me because of Sam’s developmental and health issues he has some trouble grasping items at times. These blocks were easy for him to play with. They also don’t set off his touch sensitivity. It is so hard to find items for him to enjoy that I wanted to cry when he fell in love with these foam blocks.
They come in this plastic zip bag which I use to store them in as well. Please be aware that I don’t leave this bag with the kids. I dump the blocks out so they can play and then put them back into the bag when I put them away. I have found that if I don’t put them away (up high) at night Sam will get out of bed to play with them. I caught him in the middle of the night the other night. Sitting in his floor just playing on his on.
We love these foam blocks! They have been a life saver during this trying times. The boys play with them everyday and the girls occasionally join in. Since we are starting Kindergarten this year I’m certain I will use them in our lessons as well. Sam is learning to tell his shapes with them. Having a special needs child means you work hard trying to finding items they can relate with. These are not listed as being for special needs but for Sam they work. They work much better than the blocks I got that cost over a hundred dollars. At $35.95 they are a bargain.
