Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! This week and next, I have the final weeks of doctor’s appointments. I have been going to the cancer center and am more than happy to announce that I have no cancer! My primary care doctor was concerned about my white blood count and platelets always being too high. Now he is just checking for some other things that could cause them to be as high as they are. So far, all the tests have come back negative. He says that if they are all negative, then it is reactive because I am overweight.
Yet another thing to contribute to the fact that I am fat. I did meet with the nutritionist this week as well, to help me reset. I can say it helped in that there were a few areas that I needed improvement in and just wasn’t sure about finding alternates. I did google the alternatives, but that didn’t help much. Speaking with the nutritionist really helped me see where I needed to work harder. Now I just need to find a trainer who will kick my butt about losing weight and working out, and I’ll be fine.
As far as seniors go, Ma is doing pretty well. She did take a fall recently that messed up the ligaments in her upper thigh. This chick slides on some gravel getting out of the car! She spent a week in a wheelchair because she couldn’t use her crutches. We had to take all of the doors off the hinges in the house so she could get around. Our house was built back in the seventies before the doorways had to be wheelchair accessible. She couldn’t use the wheelchair so well either, though, and used her good feet to move herself along.
My uncle has to have vascular surgery on his leg this month to get rid of a blockage. That will be next week and then, thankfully, we don’t have any other appointments until the end of the month. I do have to go to the heart clinic for an ultrasound on both of my legs next week as well. They are just checking to make sure I don’t have any blockages or blood clots.
I’m glad the appointments are almost over because we are gearing up for vacation and the kids are coming home! We get the kids for six months starting in July! I am so excited about that. The first month will be spent on the vacation that we all so desperately need. I didn’t want them to come home from all of these appointments and surgeries. So this will give them a way to come home to nothing but happiness. My oldest starts college next year and will no longer have to do the agreed upon six months with me and six months with his dad. He can come and go as he pleases. I will say that doesn’t make my ex happy at all. He prefers that he abide by the arrangement. In fact, he recently called to let me know that I had a duty to make sure he followed that.
I informed him that our son is considered an adult by the government and can make his own decisions. I have nothing to do with his decisions and refuse to influence him in that way. I believe he needs to figure things out for himself and doesn’t need his mother to do everything for him. It is time for him to take his place in society and figure his life out. I don’t have to worry though, because he has already gotten into the school he wants to go to. which is another thorn in my ex’s side. Our son will be attending college in Washington State, which is where he wants to go. My ex thinks he needs to go either closer to home or return to Mexico (where he was born) and attend there. My ex needs to be in control of all things and is not happy that he can no longer control every aspect of our son’s life.
As for me, I am happy that he has a good head on his shoulders and knows what he wants to do in life. I raised him to be an independent thinker and to respect his parents but to make his own decisions as a man. That is how my parents raised me. I respect them and their wishes, but in the end, I make my own decisions. Trust me, if I had listened to my mother, I never would have married my ex. The only good thing to come out of that relationship was the children.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

My husband has been out of the country on business so I’m a bit tired being in charge of the house and the kids without any help.

This week was extremely busy, the trust was still broke (maybe still be) and my daughter had two doctor’s appointments, my sister had one and my granddaughter not only had two days of leap testing that I had to sit through but she had to to the emergency room! I am so glad that this week is over that I will definitely take that cocktail now! HAVE A SPECTACULAR WEEKEND!

My week has been very slow, really. Our main worry is the price of gas and groceries. Hopefully next week will be more cheerful.

It was a pretty boring week.

Another slow week for me, I was distressed to learn that my son Derek, the second to youngest is moving to Florida at the end of this month. With my eldest son in Oregon and another in Ohio, yet another in the service and always moving about, my daughter and first born in NYC, I will be seeing less and less of my family as I grow older. Of course, if I ever win the lottery, I will have a nice variety of places to visit…
