It’s Friday again and time for Friday Cocktails! I am enjoying his so much. I love knowing I am sharing a little bit more of myself each week. I know the last few weeks I have been so down and I promise that every one of these posts aren’t going to be like that. I do have a bit of heartstrings tug in this one but it’s a good one I promise. This week has been full and busy. I have finally gotten caught up almost to where I want to be.
The weekend around here is going to be busy as well. By Monday morning I will be almost 100% caught up from being behind. I have a couple of other things to do next week and then I am back on track and ready to be more than productive.
Next week I will be going onto my new schedule. Don’t worry, y’all won’t even notice any changes. For me though it will be huge. I will say that it will mostly afternoons that I am online. Sam has treatments in the mornings for a while and those will keep us busy.
Thor Is Here
The other day I got a new meat tenderizer. You know one of those double sided mallet things that you use to, forgive the pun, beat the crap out of meat. Well I had laid it on the counter and went about doing some other things. My plan had been to wash it and then put it away.
I was running behind because Sam had treatment at the hospital for most of the morning. He was quiet all the way home and sick as usual. I hate that he feels so bad afterwards but there isn’t much we can do about it. I thought he had laid down on the couch when we came inside.
A couple of minutes go by and I had my back to the counter. All of a sudden I heard this little voice say “Thor is here” when I turned he was holding up the mallet and had such a proud look on his face. He said he have Thor’s hammer now so he’s the new Thor. We laughed and laughed about it.
Later that night after he had I gone to bed I cried for an hour. He found such joy in something as simple as a meat tenderizer. The morning had been so awful and we were lost in our own worlds as we usually are on the drive home. Yet, that small moment of laughter changed our entire day. Some days you just have to take the wins where you can.
WEEKLY FINDS I LOVE
- Custom Water Bottle For Kids: I carry water to make sure Sam stays hydrated.
- Social Work Worker Carryall: I actually have one that is similar. I can carry water in it along with so much other stuff.
- Coloring Pages: I have always have some of these on hand.
- Book Sleeve: We have a couple different ones of these. I like to take a book for both of us and these help us keep them together and make them easy to find in the bag.
- Paws & Bones Dog Blanket: Yes this is a dog blanket. Sam saw it and loved so we used it when we go. It’s small enough to fit in my bag but big enough for him to cuddle and stay warm. It is also machine washable.
- Reusable Storage Bags: This set has snack bags and I always bring a few snacks. We don’t like to eat hospital food if we can help it when we aren’t staying. So I bring us a few snacks to get us through.
- Hydro Water Bottle: So I can stay hydrated as well.
- Rosary: I say our morning rosary as we sit there and I always say a little prayer.
- Insulated Medical Bag: I have one of these for myself and one for Sam. Mine has things like what my allergies are, my epi-pen, my insulin, and other things.
This week for my weekly finds I thought I would share some items that are similar to my hospital bag items. While Sam doesn’t want anything except his little polar bear when we go for his treatments I take a different approach. I need all the comfort I can get. Also I like to know that I have things on hand should either of us need it. I don’t like to leave him alone if I can help it.
Of course we have masks as well! I actually use an old baby wipes container, one of those travel ones, to keep our masks in. It keeps them together and fits into my bag easily. I can take them out, wash them, and put them right back in.
