Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! Can you believe it is the last Friday of the month already? It seems so crazy, but there you go. This week did see some appointments. In fact, we had a full day of them and so much driving that I swear my butt hurt just from sitting in the car. I don’t know how it is with you all, but with the seniors, it is the most annoying thing. First, they drive in both the back and side seats. I mean, no matter what, I am not doing it correctly. One will say “go,” the other will say “stop.”
Then there is the argument about which way to go. I will use GPS and they will know a shortcut or whether I should take this road instead of that one. The short cuts are rarely shorter, and honestly, I’m the one driving. Let’s not even talk about the radio situation. Everyone likes different music and wants to listen to their favorites. If they don’t get to, they complain like they are three years old again. Toddlers have nothing on seniors when it comes to throwing fits!
So, what is a girl to do? They now wear headphones and can listen to music on their phones if they want.I just ignore most of their driving instructions because I can. Also, on days when I am the only one with an appointment, I go by myself if I can. It gives me time to enjoy my own music or whatever podcast I am listening to at the moment. I don’t have to have them ask me a million times what it is and why would I listen to something about murders? I tend to like the true-crime ones.
I also always take the long route home. It’s nice some days, especially in the spring and summer, to just be out and about. The weather is warm and the day is nice. I always feel recharged when I finally make it home. Even on the days when the appointments were tough on me. It’s nice to have that little bit of time to enjoy something that only I do. No one is pulling at me to stop for whatever they need or to change the channel because they don’t like it.

My daughter got her 2nd infusion and it went pretty well, of course they did lab work after and we are waiting on the results. The truck has broken down again and we can’t find anyone that can figure out what is wrong with it (it’s the only vehicle for three households, of course, they all make me do the running anyway, so what’s their problem?) I understand about the seniors, I only have my mom left now but I have my younger sister too and she might as well be a senior because she does the same thing! I agree that when you finally get some time to your shelf, it feels so amazing, in my case, I don’t have time to make it to any appointments and so far every time I make one for me, I have to cancel because of vehicle issues, someone else has an appointment or my granddaughter has a school event that has be handled! This year is going way to fast, but it feels like every year, time just keeps going by faster and faster!
