It’s Friday again and time for Friday Cocktails! Spring is in the air and that means we can go out and have picnics. I will say I have missed picnics. Don’t worry we are still social distancing and wearing masks here. We have to be super careful but we are getting outside more and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air.
We love the sunshine and it felt like forever since we were out in it. The last few months have just felt dark and gloomy. I know they haven’t all been but they felt that way. Now there is hope in the air and I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
SO MANY DOCTORS
We have had a slew of doctor’s appointments in the last week for not only Sam but also the senior citizens. I went with Ma to her new primary care physician with a list of things we needed answers on. Her previous doctor didn’t answer our questions. This one answered them all and set up new appointments for a few other things. I love that, he didn’t just say she’s old. I get that older people have some issues that are simply because they are old but I’m gonna need a better answer. We finally have those answers. She also got her first dose of the covid vaccine which is something we are thrilled about. We are a high risk household which means everyone will be getting vaccinated as we are able to.
IT’S MY MONEY
Show of hands, how many of you had your kids ask for the money you are getting for them in your stimulus, tax refund, or the child tax credit? My nephew explained to my brother why that is his money. My oldest attempted to tell me that I was suppose to give her that. I asked my brother what he thought our father would have done if we said that to him. After he got done laughing and pulled himself off the floor. We both agreed that he would have possibly given us a few different reactions. One certainly beings “Do you see your name anywhere on this check?”
I don’t know if it is just the entitlement that kids seem to have today or that they simply hear about that money and tax breaks more. Growing up we knew our parents got a tax break for us but we never once thought that money should be ours. After all our parents housed us, fed us, clothed us, and all the other things that parents do. I told my oldest I would gladly give me that money. I would also be giving her, from now own, her portion of the electric bill, the cell phone bill, the cable bill, the water bill, the groceries, and I would charge like an Uber if I have to take her somewhere. She has decided that she can’t live off that small amount and maybe it would be better to allow me to keep it. Wise choice.
WEEKLY FINDS I LOVE
This week I have been working towards getting this a little more organized and ready for my tript hat will be coming up in a couple of months. I know… I said months. I like ot have things ready both physically and mentally before we take any sort of trips. That means making lists, checking them three or four times, and so much more. Plus I have to take my work with me. It’s a lot and planning helps. You can click any of the images to go to the items on Amazon. I love shopping on Amazon and you can find all of the items on my various lists here. I add to them all the time so be sure to check often.
3 in 1 Travel Dispenser Bottle Organizer: I ordered three of these. I thought they would work well with my shampoo and conditioner not to mention the lotions other items I always take with me. I figured one for the kids and then two for me.
Reusable food container silicone bag: Perfect for a road trip or even in your suitcase. These are reusable so I’m carrying a bunch of items I have to throw away. I use them for all sorts of things. Toothbrushes, snacks, etc
Hanging Toiletry Bag, BAGSMART: This is what I use for my makeup and all my other bathroom supplies that I use and bring with me. I do try to bring only what I need to get through the trip. I buy anything that comes up.
Toilet Seat Covers Paper Flushable: These are a must have all the time. I keep these in my bag because you never know when there won’t be one available. I’m just saying and I have seen some pretty dicey toilet seats in my time.
Travel Compression Bags: I can pack more by using these. I tend to over pack and this allows me to get everything I need into one bag. These are brilliant and just love them so much.
Phomemo M02 Portable Pocket Printer: This is amazing and I tuck it into my office bag so I can print lists, labels, or anything else. I print a packing for the kids and stick it to the inside of their suitcases.
VanFn Disposable Towel: Another item I carry all the time. These are great because they aren’t like baby wipes. This is thicker and uses water. It is about the size of a mint until you put it in water for three seconds. Then you have a great little washcloth.
Relavel Travel Makeup Train Case Makeup Cosmetic Case: I don’t use these for makeup. I use it for electronic cords and office supplies. I can put the cords in the top where the brushes would go.
Baby Carseat Head Support Band Strap: I use these in the car seats, the stroller, etc. It helps keeps the twins heads in a good position. No stiff necks or that horrible head flop. My neck hurts just watching that.
These are of course just a few of the items that I love and use when I travel. I will be showing you some of them in use when we actually do travel. I know some of them are interesting and you may not have heard of them before.
