Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! Recently I received an email from a concerned reader that I feel like I may need to address here. They were concerned about my Friday Cocktails posts because writing to them seemed like I had a problem with alcohol. I wrote back and explained it was simply what I called our weekly check-ins. That end of the week little chat where I share what it has been going on.
Their response was to send me a list of websites and materials that could help me with my addiction. Okay, they were trying to help but I feel like I need to address that. I have never been one to drink much but I love making drinks if that makes any sort of sense. One year my brother got me a cocktail recipe book and we spent the entire next year making different recipes from it.
So the recipes you see here are the ones that I make for family and friends when we are having drinks. Some old favorites of mine and some new ones that we try out. I am not always the one drinking the drink at all. There are some beverages I can’t stand but think y’all might like them. I just didn’t want anyone to worry. I don’t have a drinking problem, well my soda habit needs to be dealt with but that’s for another day.
Although I do thank the reader for their concern. It was touching and thoughtful and I love when y’all reach out to me.
This Week’s Cocktail
This week we have the Mimosa. That beverage that makes an appearance on Mother’s Day and for every brunch ever. The French invented the mimosa and it was first served at The Ritz Hotel in Paris in 1925.
Ingredients
- 1 (750 ml) bottle of Champagne, prosecco, or cava, chilled
- 3 cups (750 ml) orange juice
Instructions
- Pour the sparkling wine into the Champagne flutes, filling each glass about half full. Pour the orange juice on top to fill each glass and serve.
