Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! The month is almost over and we will be heading into Thanksgiving, Christmas, and then the New Year. Goodness! At least for today lets tackle this week. This week has been a laid back week for us.
Ma will be having her surgery soon and we have been taking it easy. I watched some older movies this week as well. I spent this past weekend watching Romancing the Stone and then Jewel of the Nile both are such feel good movies and I haven’t watched them in forever. It was nice to just laugh and not worry about anything else.
This Week’s Cocktail
We have a Cosmopolitan this week! Which is Carrie Bradshaw’s go-to drink and honestly honestly this is most likely the first “fancy” drink women have. It’s that drink that you immediately can name when you go to nicer bar or out to drinks for the first time. At least that was the case for me. It got its name in a unique way.
The drink was supposedly made by bartender Neal Murray in the summer of 1975. While experimenting with different versions of the Kamikaze cocktail he added a dash of cranberry juice. The first person to taste it exclaimed “how cosmopolitan“, thus giving the cocktail its name.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces (1/4 cup) vodka
- 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) triple sec, Grand Marnier or Cointreau
- 3/4 ounce (1 tablespoon + 1 1/2 teaspoons) cranberry juice cocktail, sweet or unsweet
- 1/4 to 1/2 ounce (1 1/2 teaspoons to 3 teaspoons) fresh lime juice
- One 2-inch orange peel/twist
- Ice
Directions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and lime juice. (We like the extra bite of extra lime juice, so we use 1/2 an ounce in our cosmopolitan cocktails. However, use what is best for your taste). Shake the cocktail shaker for about 30 seconds until well chilled. Then, strain into a martini glass.
- Garnish with orange peel/twist. For an extra burst of flavor, peel the orange twist over the filled cocktail glass. This way, the orange oils spray into the glass.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

It wasn’t the best we missed trick or treating because it was freezing and my son was sick. So we kinda stayed home and did nothing while trying to help him feel better.
