It’s the first Friday of the month and is it time for Friday Cocktails ! Gosh it’s hard to believe that October is almost over! I mean this year has just flown by and we will soon be getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can you believe that?
We are down to the last few days before Ma’s surgery and she is starting to get super nervous. On top of that I am a bit nervous because the kids will be heading to spend the first week of November with their dad. It always makes me nervous when they are with him. Don’t ask me why, it just does. However, we felt it would be easier and less stressful if Ma could recover that week without them underfoot. It will be less stressful on me as well since I am the one who will be having to help her at least for the first couple of days. She’s having eye surgery and it’s pretty routine but my mother turns into a big baby anytime she is sick or down for the count.
Time For The Hot Drinks
One thing I know I am more than ready for is the hot drinks! In the warmer months I don’t drink any hot tea or chocolate in the mornings. However, when the weather turns cooler I get up earlier so I can sit on my back porch, wrapped up, and watch the sun come up. There is just something about sitting out there with a hot drink in my hands.
I feel like I am getting my day started off the right way. I don’t really do anything but sit and enjoy my drink. Waiting and watching for those first peeks of sunshine to make their way across my yard. There is so much peace in it. In the winter, I feel revived and there isn’t any major reason for it. I just love the fall and winter months.

Kids in the Fall
It’s no big secret that I live in a wooded area and one thing we get a lot of in the fall is leaves. We spent countless hours during the fall raking leaves and there always seems to be more the next day. For the younger kids though these leaves are countless hours of fun. At least the ones we have gotten raked into piles.
They like to undo the piles! There doesn’t seem to be anything better than taking what we have raked and throwing it around so we have to rake it again. If that isn’t their favorite pastime I will eat my drawers! I would love to say this is something new but they have always done this. If they aren’t throwing them around their climbing on the piles and rolling around in them. The satins I have to get out of the laundry because let me tell you that leaf piles in Georgia ain’t like those nice pretty ones you see. They are covered in mud and red clay at the bottom. It’s gross! Well, except at in my older brother’s yard. It’s like he would be offended if his weren’t perfect. So, I loving take the kids to visit when I know he will be raking that weekend. Gotta spread that joy around.
