Friday has rolled around again, which means it is time for Friday Cocktails! This week has been a bit off for me. I din’t know if it’s menopause or pms for what the heck is wrong but I have been in a bad mood all week. Like every little thing has drove me up a wall.
It has been rather difficult to not scream at people. I went to the Dollar General the other day and I swear they aggravated me so badly. Honestly, anyone would have gotten upset. At this particular store they only do the self checkout anymore. They have a regular register but for whatever reason they don’t use it. I had an issue, and called for help. By the way just pushing the help button on the register doesn’t bring any help.
So, the guy comes up and I explain my issue. His response was he didn’t know how to fix it. Okay, so can we cancel this and just let me start over. He said he didn’t know how to do that either. I asked if he was the cashier and he said yes but they don’t know how to run the registers. I have never wanted to punch someone more.
He called a manager and she came up, I explained what was going on and could she just cancel and let me start over. That was the easiest thing to do and required the least amount on their part. I was certain she wasn’t going to help me but in the end she did. I just don’t understand why they don’t have a regular cashier in that store anymore. I forgot about that or I would have gone to another store. It was the closest and I was trying to be quick about it.
That is just one example of how the week has just been off all the way around. Normally, these things don’t get to me but this week they really did and I haven’t been able to just brush it off. Don’t worry, I wasn’t Karen in the store. However, when I got home I was all “Let me tell you about the people in the Dollar General.”
This Week’s Cocktail
The drink that was featured this week is a Gimlet. The Gimlet was invented in the 19th century. Back then, sailors from Great Britain were given lime rations to prevent scurvy. The juice was usually preserved by mixing it with strong liquor for long trips. However, Lachlan Rose discovered a way to fortify the juice with sugar and preserve it without alcohol. His new and improved lime juice cordial was shelf-stable and ideal for people who wanted their lime juice without the added booze. He named his creation Rose’s Lime Juice Cordial.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 ounces gin

- Garnish: lime wheel

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

My week sure went fast. I did a lot of driving that’s for sure. I am looking forward to a nice mellow weekend with some much needed rain in our area.

I have been dealing with intense search of an active shooter in our area. It’s over. They shut down schools and some businesses. He shot a passer-by in a car, a deputy sheriff in the head, who is going to survive, and he killed a police dog named Rico. So very sad. The shooter is dead.

This week was or is very quiet and nice. I got to relax and enjoy this week due to a sore throat. There is good news even when i do not feel that well.

It has been a rough week for me again as I still have knee pain and there are no specific results to any of the testing that has been done so far. My lack of mobility is frustrating and I can’t seem to enjoy all of this down time that I have as I feel the pressure of all of the things that need to be done.
