It’s Friday and time to catch up a little bit with everyone. Every week I take a few moments to share the things going on around here and in my life. It’s something I have been doing for a number of years and will probably do until I finally stop writing the blog.
Truthfully there isn’t a whole lot that has been going on. The other night I heard sirens coming down the road and got up to look. I saw like fifteen police cars flying down the road with their sirens blaring and light flashing. No ambulance or fire trucks (unless they came from another direction). Now this is a big deal because I live in a small town. Honestly, I didn’t even know we had that many police cars and certainly not that many officers on duty at one time.
I’m not even kidding! I have no idea what was going on and there was nothing in the paper. My friend own a small store (it’s empty) near where I live. That happens to be out in the middle of nowhere which why it is empty. Anyway, yesterday she went by to check on things and found a guy living in there. He had the air conditioning blowing and just was right at home. He said he didn’t have anywhere else to go.
She didn’t call the police but told him he couldn’t stay there. I don’t know what all happened but she did give him a ride to the local church that could help him. While on one hand I applaud what she did to help on the other I keep thinking. “He could have killed her!” It’s hard nowadays to know when to help.
That’s pretty much all the excitement that has been going on around here. I’m sure the rest of the year will be pretty much the same old boring things.
Just a couple of Instagram posts that made me smile a little this week. I thought they would make you smile as well.
This was too cute for words. I mean this little dog in its raincoat. I mean adorable can one little pup get?
These are just pictures but let me tell you I love them. They made me smile so much.
The next few are just images but that first is so cute. This was me when no one was watching back when I could move like that. Now, I turn over in the bed and feel like I need to call 911!
I started meal planning to help me in the grocery store a little more. WE shop monthly and well lets be honest sometimes I don’t buy enough of something or I buy too much of something else. So, I thought I would share what our dinner plans are for next week and see what you think.
- Monday: Hamburgers and Fries
- Tuesday: Cubed Steak with Rice, Gravy, and Veggies
- Wednesday: Spaghetti with Salad and Garlic Bread
- Thursday: Tacos (depending on how the day goes either homemade or from the restaurant.)
- Friday: Pizza (just a frozen one in the oven)
- Saturday: Sandwiches
- Sunday: Roasted Chicken with potatoes, gravy, dinner rolls, and veggies
I thought I take the time to share three things that you can do or read for a little self care, a moment of peace and quiet or more.
- Get a Coffee: Take a moment or ten to just get a coffee (or tea) and just sit. Enjoy the cafe or park or wherever you are and just be. Don’t answer your phone for anything other than an emergency. Just be in the moment.
- Tech Free Weekend: This is harder than it sounds but if you can do it, the benefits are unbelievable. Every so often I take a weekend away. I go to a local hotel (that has room service) and do nothing. I don’t take my tablet or laptop. I turn my phone off and let my mom know the number of the hotel I will at in case of an emergency. This is the best weekend ever for me! I order all my meals and just relax. I do nothing at all.
- Call a Friend: Call someone who makes you laugh. Take just a few minutes to check in with someone or just talking about nothing in particular. Have a good laugh or cry with them.
Did you know I write more than one blog? Well I do and here are a few highlights from Storied Conversation. Please note that clicking any of the links below will take you away from Rita Reviews. I just wanted to let you know but please click away and give these blogs some love as well. You never know what you may find.

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

The doggy in a raincoat is so cute. My week was pretty uneventful. I did chores around the house.

Great menu plan for the week gave me some new ideas thanks for sharing. My week has been a busy one lots of running around and running errands and lots of driving. We are still in the triple digits here and am looking forward to the fall season and some much needed rain here.

My week was hot, busy, my friend was in the hospital and it was just really stressful honestly. So glad it’s Friday!
