I am more than a little late getting this posted today. I honestly almost skipped this week because I am in the middle of doing a few other things to catch up from January.
This Week in the wilderness
I have been just attempting to catch up with everything that I allowed to fall behind last month. There hasn’t been a lot but enough to keep myself busy. I am not further along in a couple of projects that I am working on and I need to get some of my Amazon Vine reviews completed.
Life at Shady Pines free range seniors
The seniors have been driving me crazy all week. I don’t know if it’s something in the air or what. I swear they have even at each other’s throats the entire week. It is like having a room full of two year olds. One thing no one really tells you though is that while it gets harder for seniors to control their bladders their bowels are just as bad. Guess how I know?
Hot Flashes & More the joys of midlife
Night sweats and more night sweats have been driving me up a wall. I already have a hard time sleeping thanks to sleep apnea, and the pain of osteoarthritis I don’t need to sweat so bad I need to change the sheets every morning. Ask me how many loads of laundry I have done this week? WAY more than I should have. This menopause is for the birds.
What’s Cooking for dinner tonight
I started meal planning to help me in the grocery store a little more. We shop monthly and well lets be honest sometimes I don’t buy enough of something or I buy too much of something else. So, I thought I would share what our dinner plans are for next week and see what you think.
- Monday: Chicken and Dumplings with Steamed Green Beans
- Tuesday: Shrimp Étouffée with Jasmine Rice
- Wednesday: Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
- Thursday: Braised Beef Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes and Roasted Carrots
- Friday: Herb-Crusted Cod with Quinoa Pilaf and Steamed Broccoli
- Saturday: Turkey Wraps with Sweet Potato Chips
- Sunday: Roasted Pork Loin with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Honey-Glazed Brussels Sprouts, and Pecan Pie
A Moment of peace and quiet
This week my moment of peace and quiet has honestly only been in the shower. I have been taking slightly longer ones because it has been the only moments where the phone hasn’t been ringing off the hook nor the senior needing fifty million things it seems. So take a few extra minutes this week even if they are in the shower to find your own peace and quiet.

I am on day 5 of being snowed in and it is still snowing. I am starting to get ‘cabin fever’ that is for sure. I am praying for sunshine so this stuff starts melting.
My husband was away on business in California this week. Ever since he got a promotion, he’s been traveling a lot. I hate it. Due to time zone differences and his busy itinerary, I don’t even get to talk to him when he’s away. His company touts “work-life balance” but that is a complete joke. I keep praying we’ll win the lottery so he can retire, or at least semi-retire.
It’s been a good week other than the weather can decide if it’s going to be warm or really cold.
