Another week has ended and it’s again time for Friday Conversations where we share what happened in our lives this week, find something funny, a little encouragement, and more. This week I tried to organize my life and failed miserably!
It all started with the best of intentions. I had visions of a perfectly organized closet, color-coded calendars, and a productivity level that would make Marie Kondo proud. Monday morning, I armed myself with a shiny new planner, a to-do list as long as my arm, and a cup of coffee so strong it could’ve revived a sloth. This was going to be the week.
By noon, my optimism started to fade. My email inbox exploded, a grocery trip turned into an hour-long “What do I actually eat?” existential crisis, and don’t even get me started on the laundry that decided to multiply overnight. By mid-week, I was deep in the clutter, and my color-coded plans had turned into sticky notes stuck all over the place.
And Friday? Well, let’s just say I waved the white flag. But you know what? Sometimes life’s messy, and no amount of planners can change that. So, I might not have my life perfectly organized, but at least I’ve still got my sense of humor.
Just a couple of Instagram posts that made me smile a little this week. I thought they would make you smile as well.
Could you imagine having a party like this? It is so beautiful and I can only imagine the hard work that went into it. It’s not actually a party though because her husband commented about how she makes all their holidays this special.
I love hydrangeas and these are beautiful. I wish I could get them to grow in my yard. They just won’t take for some reason.
These glass blowing videos are always pretty. I love how they look and enjoy watching them.
Those are the things that made me smile this week. I hope you all had a smile watching them as well.
So, midlife at 48 is basically like waking up in a body that decided it’s going to keep all the snacks you ever ate… forever. Remember when you could eat a slice of pizza and nothing happened? Yeah, those days are long gone. Now, one look at a carb and my jeans feel betrayed. It’s like my metabolism packed up and went on a permanent vacation, and all I got was this spare tire. But hey, at least I’m well-fed, right?
I started meal planning to help me in the grocery store a little more. WE shop monthly and well lets be honest sometimes I don’t buy enough of something or I buy too much of something else. So, I thought I would share what our dinner plans are for next week and see what you think.
- Monday: Pan-Seared Pork Chops with Apple Cider Glaze, Sautéed Brussels Sprouts, Garlic Mashed Potatoes
- Tuesday: Chicken Fajitas with Bell Peppers and Onions, Spanish Rice, Black Beans
- Wednesday: Eggplant Parmesan, Garlic Breadsticks, Arugula Salad with Lemon Vinaigrette
- Thursday: Grilled Salmon with Dill Yogurt Sauce, Roasted Baby Carrots, Couscous with Fresh Herbs
- Friday: Cheeseburgers with All the Trimmings, Sweet Potato Wedges, Coleslaw
- Saturday: Chicken Alfredo Pasta, Garlic Bread, Caesar Salad
- Sunday (Family-Style Dinner): Herb-Roasted Chicken, Creamed Spinach, Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce
I thought I take the time to share three things that you can do or read for a little self care, a moment of peace and quiet or more.
- Read a Book: Dedicate 30 minutes to reading a book you’ve been wanting to dive into.
- Listen to Music: Find a quiet spot and listen to your favorite calming music or playlist.
- Facial Mask: Pamper yourself with a hydrating or soothing face mask to rejuvenate your skin.

I’ve been at the beach with my family. I took a boat trip to a remote island, but I’m what you’d call an “indoorsy” girl so the island adventure wasn’t for me.

I’m not organized, either! I was stressed out this week, but tried some fun virtual classes from the library (Portuguese lessons!)…,

Overall it has been a good week. The real only downfall is allergies that has created a cough and froggy voice. Otherwise, hubby and I have spent time alone some and short visits with my aunt and my mom (who is staying with my aunt while hubby and I are in the RV).

Oh pretty I love glass blowing!
My week was pretty uneventful. Trying to soak in as much baseball as I can before the season ends, bought a whole bunch of pumpkin things to bake and got some good cleaning in! It’s finally under 100 here so it’s all good.

A lot of doctor’s tests this week.

Crappy week. Me and my kids have been sick. For almost 2 weeks. It’s cleared up a lot but still have the stuffy/runny noses and sinus issues. Hope your week went a lot better than mine.

I too am struggling with organizing – I had visions of clearing out one of my closets but only managed to select 6 things to donate. Keep reminding myself small steps add up
