Fridays & Monthly Giveaways on Hold

Recently I discovered that if I was late posting a giveaway people were able to still enter them anyway. All they had to do was go to Rafflecopter and if I had scheduled one but hadn’t changed or updated the date they could still enter. In fact, I found when checking entries that many entries were taken without ever being on the blog post that the giveaway was on.

I typically pre-plan all of my giveaways but if something needed to change I would go in and do although sometimes that didn’t happen until I was ready. The giveaway I discovered the fact you could enter was one where I had planned to increase the prize but when I went over to make the changes and post everything I already had more than 100 entries.

I am pausing all Friday and all monthly giveaways until I can decide the best way to go about ensuring they only work on the posts. I have deleted all planned ones on Rafflecopter as well. I am more than a little upset with all of it and may end up using a different service all together. I just haven’t decided. I stopped requiring a blog comment years ago if I could help it in order to not force people to read the post.

That may be something I have to return to. I just don’t know. Maybe this is the sign that I need to simply stop all giveaways and just do them occasionally. Either way you all will be the first to know when I decide what I am going to do moving forward.
