WOW! It is so hard to believe that I have been on the Shaklee180 program for 4 whole months. I still have trouble some day to inspire myself to get moving but that is something that I am working on. This month has been full of ups and downs! I have had a lot of personal stuff like dealing with my aunt’s funeral and moving her things to some other private things.
One thing that I have discovered is that stress plays havoc when you are on a diet. In fact to be 100% honest I caught myself before I could start an eating binge one day. When life gets stressful for me I turn to the one thing I have always found comfort in……food. It is a habit that is very hard to break but one that I am working on everyday. I have discovered that if I go for a walk and generally get moving I don’t need the food. The snack bars on the Shaklee180 program really help a lot as well.
What happens though when I get overly depressed and don’t want to get out of the bed? Those are the times when it is the hardest but I keep going. Today I actually cut all of my grass, with the push mower! I am so proud of myself and when I was finished I couldn’t even push the mower back up to the house. I didn’t care at all, the only thing that mattered is that I went out there and did it. Now before anyone asks, yes my husband cuts grass but he is not here right now so I have to do it.
Weight wise this month I actually gained a couple of pounds. Again I think this is stress and I am certain that today I put a pretty good dent in that weight gain. All I can do is stay on the program and keep moving forward. I have my goal weight hanging on my bathroom wall so I can see it everyday. Also so it can remind me of where I am heading.
How do you get moving?

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Stress wreaks havoc on a diet! I have the exact same problem. Great job on cutting the grass–that’s more energy than I can muster on these hot days

I was pretty hot but I really needed it.

I am like you, I turn to food when stressed and under a lot of pressure. I think all in all you have kept your end goal in site. That is the most important thing. You are working towards being healthier and that is what is the key to staying on track. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I hate that I turn to food when I am stressed out but it is a habit I am working on.

Its so true stress does wreak havoc on a diet. I turn to food whenever I’m stressed or unhappy also. I decided not to do a weight goal but rather being healthier goal sometimes you may not see a difference in the scale but you feel better.

Good for you. I hope that you are getting healthy and feeling fabulous!

It is such a great thing to do for ourselves, and that is to be healthy. Losing weight is always a challenge, but to make progress in losing weight is such a positive thing to do for ourselves. Congrats on your weight loss and continued success!

It’s good that you caught yourself though. I know that I too turn to food out of boredom and stress. But I know that getting myself motivated is a real big struggle! I battle alot of depression issues so on the days I can get over that hurdle the next is motivation. We have a pretty large yard and I cut ours. It seems like that is the only activity I enjoy doing, lol

You should feel proud of yourself for coping with that stressed feeling in the right way. Like you said, it is so hard to not to indulge in comfort (whatever it may be) when life gets stressful. Building up the motivation to move is really hard as well. Props to you for keeping yourself on target! You accomplished something when you could have easily given up, so that’s a huge achievement!

Good for you Rita! I used to like cutting the grass…I loved the sweaty exercise and the smell of cut grass. That was when i was so busy with family and work I figured I could use a necessary JOB as exercise and not have to find time to work out too. Now, not much to keep me moving. Dealing with health things but looking forward to better times and back to walking, gardening, even helping to shovel the snow in the winter. I used to run and found it so fun and relaxing…to clear the mind and just destress.
Stress does do a number on a person’s health and “diet”. I used to think about dieting to LOOK better…, but now know it is important to keep eating healthy to BE healthy and look healthy…the rest doesnt matter as much to me anymore.

It sure can be hard to keep going when you are down in the dumps. Chin up and pat yourself on the back for not giving up. I am here for you!! Great photo too!
