Cinco de Mayo will be here in a few short days and are you ready? Guess what? I am totally NOT ready and it is one of the holidays that we celebrate in my home. So what is Cinco de Mayo exactly? I can tell you that is not an excuse to have a party cause lets face no one needs one of those. It is actually is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Yeah just a party day sounds better! The wonderful folks over at JCPenney sent me some information on a few products that could help you get ready for this day. I need to get to the store!
The JCPenney Home™ Hayden Indoor/Outdoor Table Linen Collection is very colorful as you can see. This is something that I think my sister in-law would love. I’m actually changing the colors in my dining room so this wouldn’t work in there but I could use it outside for things to look festive.
I already have a set that I got years ago but I must say that but the Mingle 5-pc. Margarita Glass Set ($140) is really nice as you can see in this picture. This is also something that I need to pick up for my sister in-law. Her birthday is over the summer so I think I will get her this set when I head to JCPenney this evening.
I really need to pick up some new napkins. I am tired of using the paper kind so I am going to check out the colors that the Fiesta Fringed Set of 4 Napkins come in and see what I like. I think they will make a wonderful addition to my home and save me some money in the long run since I will just wash them when I do the kitchen laundry.
Okay this is something I so want!! It’s a Nostalgia Margarita and Slush Maker and I MUST have it! I can just see myself using this all year long and not just for margaritas! I know that our home will be the better for this and yes I’m just saying that so I have an excuse to buy one.
I have a set of flatware but I think the Fiesta® Temptation Multi 16-pc. Flatware Set with Rack – Service for 4 would be nice to have as an outdoor set. After all I need a set just for the oasis that I have planned out there. Not that I am going to be able to create on my own but hey a gal can dream!
I love the colors in the Fiesta® 6-pc. Gadget Set and I know that my sister will too. As I said I am switching things to one color but I am certain that not only would she love this set but actually needs it so I am adding it to my list. I know for a fact that girl doesn’t own an ice cream scoop and I mean what kind of Southern multi-cultural gal doesn’t have that? It’s a shame! 😉
I have never had an ice bucket and have decided that I need one so the Fiesta® Scarlet Ribbed 3-qt. Ice Bucket & Tongs fit that bill nicely. I have no idea what I will use it for but I need it. I am going to make that trip to the store and get myself ready!
Do you celebrate Cinco de Mayo?
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I think the margarita machine is awesome! It would be really fun if you have a lot of summer get-togethers.

That is what I was thinking! I know that my brother has a ton of them so I think I need the machine so he will invite me.

I do not celebrate Cinco De Mayo..my daughter made a party one year but I was too sick to join..I’ve always regretted missing such a great time and amazing food
Rita says
Maybe you guys can celebrate it this year. We don’t go all out just have a simple get together with great company and food.

Definitely have a lot of color there. It’s hard not to buy things when I look at all of this! My son in law is from Peru and one year I told him happy Cinco De Mayo! Only to be totally embarrased by it not being a South American thing. Now we joke about it and I send him a picture of a sink with Mayo in it! Get it!? hehe
