Getting an Oil Change with the MOM Approved Checklist

Sep 18, 2013 | Rita

Motor Oil Matters

The Motor Oil Matters information and a gift card for the oil change was provided by Motor Oil Matters.
A month or so ago I shared the MOM Approved Oil Change Checklist with you and told you how important oil changes were. So I recently discovered that it was time for an old change and set out to get one with the MOM (Motor Oil Matters) checklist in hand. I typically use this one little place that there was never a big wait or anything but then I discovered they weren’t MOM approved so what’s a girl to do?

I went online and found another place with no problem and off I went. Now I am the kind of girl that doesn’t go into the shop and get dirty at all. I have spent my time around an auto shop and I HATE grease!! So when I got there I simply went down my checklist (shown below) and then I went and enjoyed the free coffee while they handled all the work. I mean after all I need 5 minutes to myself to enjoy the peace and quiet. Right up until this other lady came in with the kids that would not sit still (another story for another time!) One thing I learned was to check my receipt and my owner’s manual so that I could be sure they were using the right oil for my vehicle. Also I never seem to remember when my next oil change is so I had the guy tell me right away and I marked it in my calendar so that I would not forget.

It is so important in making sure to use the right oil when getting an oil change. Also to make sure to have the oil filter changed every time. Using the right oil for my car is so important. And getting the oil changed often is good. This is a good checklist to follow.

I usually get my oil changed at Pep Boys I should check and see if they are MOM approved.

I went to the site to do a search and it did not have any locations close to my zip code, too bad.

I really didn’t realize that you had to double check your receipt to make sure that they used the correct oil and the correct amount of oil. These are some great tips.

these are good suggestions. I have noticed at times some places do not do all the things they say they include (such as check fluids) because if I see they did not fill the wiper fluid, etc., I know they didn’t do the things I can’t see, and don’t go back.
