Getting Ready for Fall and Fun Family Learning Activities

Sep 25, 2014 | Rita

Disclosure: This is part of a sponsored campaign with Nestlé NIDO®. However all opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Nestlé NIDO® +1
Fall has finally officially arrived and the weather here in the South has begun to change. We haven’t had to use our air conditioner so far this whole week (YEAH!!!) One of the things I love the most about the fall is the change to get outdoors and have some family fun.  Not to mention take a little time to learn a few things. This weekend we are doing a little mountain climbing and hiking. Actually the kids are hiking with me and some friends and then me and a few other friends are doing the climbing while the kiddos all enjoy a little fun. The hiking is great because we include a lesson in there. They check out plants and/or birds, we take pictures or samples and they identify them later. Yes, they do know what poison ivy and oak look like so no worries there.

Nestlé NIDO® +1 Open

For us it is about getting to spend the time together and just having fun doing it. There is also a festival that we will head to next weekend just to be out and about checking out all of the fall colors (our leaves are actually changing!) One of the things I love to do during the fall with the kids is visit an apple orchard because we need healthy snacks but mostly because of the smell of the apples. I know I am weird! I can’t help it, the smell of apples just scream fall to me. Speaking of healthy snacks one item will be in my bag this whole weekend, not to mention on all our other adventures this fall: Nestlé NIDO®.

Having twins who still regularly drink milk means needing a way to get them that while on the go. Although they are not on formula they still need a lot of things the older kids don’t and while I give the older kids cows milk I don’t the twins. That is where Nestlé NIDO® 1+ comes in.  It is a powdered milk beverage  designed for ages 1-3 with 13 vitamins and minerals such as Folic Acid, Vitamins A,C, and D, Iron, and Calcium among others. I love that it is powdered because I can just put some in a container and then mix it up while we are out and about. Makes everything super convenient. Of course I also use it to make pudding for the twins because they love pudding (go figure!) My recipe for the pudding is listed below.

I have already started going through drawers to locate sweat shirts and sweaters. We aren’t doing much in the way of decorating, because we are still in the middle of a kitchen re-do (it takes me forever to do a project that big.) I am very much looking forward to cooler weather.
