Having a baby is life-changing, and whether this is your first baby or your third baby, there are plenty of things you need to get ready for the upcoming addition to your life and your home. The more that you can get ready (and get organized) before your new baby’s arrival, then the more time you will have to spend bonding and taking care of your baby.
Food and Household Essentials Ready to Go
Life can get very chaotic and very quickly when you have a new baby to look after, but this doesn’t mean the responsibilities that you had previously have gone away or stopped. Such things as grocery shopping, cooking, and grocery shopping can feel like a real chore. To make the time easier on yourself, it is important to prepare as much as you can. Build up a stock of essential items such as toilet rolls and cleaning items, and even look at batch cooking meals that you can put in the freezer and then reheat or cook later on. Go ahead and buy items baby will need as well such as formula, Tastyganics, diaper, and other items.
Getting Your House Ready
You want your home to be as good as it can be for when you bring your baby home, so try and get that list of jobs ticked off. Add a lick of paint to those drab and unloved spaces, and even focus on having a good declutter, sort out, and deep clean. When you feel on top of your house and you feel in control, you have one less thing to worry about (especially in those early days).
Buying New Clothing and Accessories
When you are getting ready for a new baby, you want to ensure that you have enough clothes for both you and your baby. You don’t want to be heading to the stores (especially with a little one). Getting a closet ready that is full of mommy and me clothes will ensure that both you and your baby have plenty of outfits to wear (no matter what the occasion).
Plenty of Sleep and Rest
New babies are exhausting, they are hard work, but they are also little bundles of joy. New babies depend on you for everything, and this in itself can leave you feeling exhausted. The night feeds, crying and endless changing of diapers is enough to exhaust any new mom. In anticipation of your new baby, you need to focus on yourself. Get as much rest and sleep as you possibly can. Your body will appreciate any extra rest and sleep that you can get, so try and get a nap or even a lie down on the couch when you can.
Capturing Photos and Making Memories
When you have those first few days and weeks with your new baby, you want to try and capture as many photos and memories as possible. You are focused on bonding and nurturing, and this is, of course, important, but you should also remember to stop and be present in the moment. Be mindful because grow and change so quickly, and holding on to those newborn memories is important. Even though your days will be super busy, it is important to take time out to take plenty of photos.
