Getting Ready For Prom

Mar 06, 2014 | Rita

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post however all opinions are 100% my own.

Chiffon Lace

Prom Season is almost here and I have two nieces who are searching for that perfect dress. We are planning on spending the entire weekend going around from place to place while they try on dresses. However I am not that kind of a shopper and if I am purchasing their dresses then I have a better way! I will be checking out places like JenJenHouse to find the perfect dresses for them. I might save myself a weekend of dress shopping too.

 Floor Length Chiffon

I have been looking at http://www.jenjenhouse.com/Prom-Dresses-c18/ and I think I have found a couple of dresses that really would do the trick. The dress in the picture at the very top is the prom dress I would choose if I could do prom all over again. My dress, looking back, was awful! My nieces won’t have to look back with that regret. The older one is tall, very slender and, fair skinned. I think this Floor Length Chiffon would look great on her because the color won’t wash her out and she is a little flat chested and this will make her look a little larger. I also love that she won’t have to wear much jewelry because the detail is so beautiful.

Chiffon with Ruffle Flower

My other niece is  a little curvier and has a darker complexion so this pink will look amazing on her. She is tall a well but has great legs so she will be able to pull of this shorter look. Since she is curvier the flower in the middle will help her look thinner and she can pair this dress with some  sandals and simple jewelry. I stayed away from trains on dresses for them because they will be dancing and no one wants to hold up a train all night while you dance. Honestly I think these dresses are perfect and my hope is that after I show the girls they will jump at them and then we can move on to buying shoes and handbags for the prom.

Proms are so expensive these days. I don’t know how anyone can afford it when they have a lot of kids.

My son will have his this year and even with boys prom can be so expensive. But with 4 girls, we have seen the expense. My girls were very sensible though, and did not ask for all the crazy stuff. (Our school developed a protocol now for NO limos and now most of the kdis are doing home dinner parties with grill outs…SMART!) Most of the dresses alone are more than my wedding dress was though. Wow! Then hair, shoes, jewelry, flower, tickets, etc…yikes. Glad we still have 3 years til our last daughter’s prom. By then maybe they will just have a beach them and everyone can wear Hawaiian fun clothing? We can hope…

That blue dress is absolutely gorgeous! I wish I would’ve have found it way back when for my prom. I hope your nieces have a great time!

I never did go to my prom but I made it such a big deal when my daughters graduated, I told them that they had to go, they were thankful that they listened to me.

I love the Blue dress! It is a great color. I can’t even think about prom. Thank goodness I have a little time before I have to worry about my daughter going. The price of the whole thing is a little more then most people realize until they get into it. I hope my daughter is reasonable when the time comes.

I absolutely love the dress in the first picture. Burgundy is one of my favorite colors. I don’t have any girls around me that are in high school but these sites look like great resources for dress shopping.

I would have loved to wear the first dress and swirl around all night.
