Okay I openly admit that I have a soda problem! I would love to say that it isn’t a problem or even that I am from the South and the home of sodas so that’s my excuse. The truth is there is no excuse and I have tried dozens of different times to give them up. I mean I know they are bad for me but after reading this article on healthy teeth and soda addiction I think I may try a little harder.
There are a lot of great ideas in the article for cutting the soda addiction. My favorite is to run around the block which, by the way, I can’t do simply because I’ll end up having a heart attack. However for those that can do it I say more power to you. I may try my own version of this which is walking around the block. That is the most exercise I can do until the doctor clears me for more. I figure this would help two-fold in that I wouldn’t drink the soda and I could get a little exercise in.
The other favorite that I read about was to make your own healthy version. I love the orange juice and seltzer water idea because I think it may actually work the best for me. Whenever I want a soda I am going to try this and see if it helps at all. If it does I may try it with other juices too since I have to watch my sugar intake as well.
The thing is I never thought I would be addicted to sodas the way that I am and I never gave a thought to what they do to the health of my teeth. It’s funny because I consider all of that when it comes to the kids drinking them and I try really hard to limit the number they drink. In fact for them they are a treat. I didn’t want to make them so off limits that they end up addicted when they end up having one at a friends. I have a cousin who did that in that she told her son he could only drink water when he was little. Then one day he went to a friends had a soda and well he sneaked around drinking them for so long he craves them.
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

I’ve significantly reduced my soda consumption over the last few years down to just on or two a week. I need some caffeine but use an iced coffee to get that in the morning.

I have pretty much quit sodas altogether. It was easier for me than for most people, because I am actually a coffee drinker. 🙂

I’m lucky that I like drinking water. I used to drink sodas but gave them up several years ago. I’ll have a ginger ale every couple of months.

It’s so hard to give up soda, but I KNOW it’s important. I’ll try when it’s cooler out.
