When God Answers

Feb 24, 2014 | Rita

As Christians we are always talking to God. We ask him questions, ask for help, and just about anything else you can think of. So what do we do when God answers us?  If you are like me you break down and cry. Most of the time God’s answers aren’t always clear but then there are those moments when he couldn’t be any clearer.

I was recently praying and talking with God about a nightmare I had last month. In my dream there was a man that walked past me and the first feeling I had about him was he was an angel. There was a peace about him and while I was trying to do whatever it was to get away from the nightmare I questioned what I was doing. As that man passed me a sign flashed that read TRUST. That was in and within minutes I actually awoke form the dream. It has stuck with me for whatever reason and I don’t know who the man was.

So I was telling God how in the world could I simply trust when everyday there seems to be another thing that just gets me down. I then got into to bed to read in my bible. I have been reading in the New Testament but for some reason I wasn’t feeling it. So I asked God to show me where I should read at and then I randomly turned to a page. IT was the book of Sirah. Now if your bible doesn’t have Sirah in it it is because some bible have the Apocrypha that are used in Anglican, Orthodox, and Catholic congregations. If you do by chance read Sirah I will tell you that the events took place 200 years before Jesus so the Jesus mentioned in not the Savior.

Any way the page I turned to read this: {Sirah 2:1-6}

Trusting in God

My child, when you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for trials. 2 Be sincere of heart and steadfast, and do not be impetuous in time of adversity. 3 Cling to him, do not leave him, that you may prosper in your last days. 4 Accept whatever happens to you; in periods of humiliation be patient. 5 For in fire gold is tested, and the chosen, in the crucible of humiliation. 6 Trust in God, and he will help you;make your ways straight and hope in him.

How is that for an answer? I have never even read this book and here was the answer that I was looking for. Telling me to trust and to be patient. Accept what happens to you is something that is hard for me and I think it is for anyone but it is something I am working on.

Has there been a moment when God answered you clearly?

Wow, this just gave me goose bumps, thank you for sharing. We all need to trust and be patient.

It isn’t always easy and there are days when I feel like God doesn’t hear me at all but then there are these days.

I wish I could say yes, but I have not had such a moment. Not yet, at least! I’ve always been interested in the Apocryopha, but family always used the King James Bible.

You check out the Apocryopha. There is a lot of great information in it that normally you don’t see

I had never heard of the Book of Sirach. I’m glad that you mentioned it’s part of the Apocrypha, as I was so confused until I got to that part. It’s cool to hear how God used those verses to answer your prayer. It’s interesting how God can use so many different things to speak to us. My wife often feels like God speaks to her by showing her red birds or cardinals.

For me, God has answered a number of things in some very unique ways. Before my wife and I even dated, he used dreams to speak to me about who my wife will be, in ways that are now very clear, but at the time was just a way of giving me hope without too much detail. Now, the meaning of those dreams are super clear!

My Ma says red birds are good luck and God’s way of talking to us as well. We saw one not too long ago as we were leaving the house and she said “Today is going to be a great day. See the red bird.” My nephew thinks red birds are God too. I think God talks to us in many different ways, it is just up to us to try and figure it out.

I didn’t know that about Red Birds. I knew that they were supposed to be good luck but not that they were God’s way of talking to us.Although now that I think about it, my spirits are lifted every time I see one.

I never knew it until Ma said something that day.

What an amazing experience. I don’t know if it was an answer from God but in my heart I do believe it was. I had asked for peace after the death of our daughter. I received that peace in a short time. So I think I did get my answer. I know that my daughter is my Angel watching over me.

I am sure that God gave you the peace that you asked for and she is your Angel watching over you.

I had never heard of the Book of Sirach nor had I heard of the Apocrypha. Lately it seems like God is just simply keeping me going or sustaining me you could say.

A lot of people have never heard of them. They are interesting books of the bible with a lot of information in them. God has a way of keeping us going even when we aren’t sure how.
