Gospel of Mark DVD

Mar 14, 2017 | Rita

The second installment in the renowned Gospel film series, The Gospel of Mark, arrived on DVD at Walmart, Digital HD and On Demand today from Lionsgate. Produced by the Lumo Project it follows last year’s The Gospel of John and is the second book of The New Testament (I know y’all know that.) This arrived just in time for the Easter season and I will tell you that Ma was super excited to see this. In fact when it arrived she told me repeatedly to hook up the DVD player. I made her wait until we could all watch it together as a family.

This was a great family movie! I hadn’t seen the one last year so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Not to mention there has been a lot of these sort of movies in the last few years so I was skeptical. This was shot on location in Morocco and consulted with expert theologians and biblical scholars which I felt like added to the  movie. It is also a word-for-word adaption of the Gospel which is also refreshing. Yes you know what is going to happen but there isn’t a lot of extra that leaves you lost. I watched a gospel based movie not long ago and the whole time I kept asking “when does that happen in the gospel?” I even pulled out my bible to check just in case I somehow missed it. I didn’t have that problem with The Gospel of Mark and I enjoyed seeing that book come to life.

Another great thing that the family can enjoy this even though I will say I didn’t let the twins who are 3 watch it. I was worried when we got to certain scenes about how they would handle it. Since the older ones are familiar with the story and what happened I was fine with them watching.  I can’t wait for the next in this amazing project to come out. I bet it will be awesome.
