I loved poetry when I was a teen but I haven’t read much of it in a very long time. Which is why when I came across Grandma’s Poetry Book A Collection of Poems by Di Castle on NetGalley I jumped at the chance to read it. I thought it would be a great way to introduce poetry to the kids and maybe find some new favorite poems.
About the Book
Grandma’s Poetry Book charts the nostalgic journey from birth to teens as seen through the eyes of a grandmother. It captures the many facets of those fleeting, easily forgotten moments as the grandchildren grow. Touching and funny in turn, the poems resonate with a grandmother’s love for her grandchildren.
Inspired by A A Milne and the bouncy verse of Pam Ayres, Grandma’s Poetry Book was inspired by the birth of Di Castle’s first grandchild. It has been illustrated by Denise Horn – whose sketches capture the special bond between grandparents and their families.
My Thoughts
I was very impressed with this collection of poetry and thought is was truly wonderful. The poems were written by a Grandmother for not only her family but for all grandmothers out there. This really gave me a great perspective on how my own mother feels about being a grandmother. The poems are such an emotionally journey and I found myself not only smiling but crying as well. This is a book that I am certain I will save and give to my daughters when they have the first child. It says everything that a Grandmother feels.
Purchase the Book
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Oh this sounds so good! I love when you read a book and know that it is something you want to pass on to your own children. I will have to look for this one. I think it sounds like a good book to give my daughter when she is older. It might be perfect for my niece, who is so busy in college that she doesn’t slow down do take the time to talk to her grandmother. Thanks!!

Tammy,
Your niece would love something like this and maybe it will remind her to take a little time to talk to her Grandmother.
