It has been rather chilly here recently but that has not stopped us from enjoying grilled foods. Hubby usually does the grilling since I set the porch on fire once (don’t ask.) We have two grills, one has and one charcoal, but I know he would love one of the premium pellet grills that Cookshack manufactures.
Being Mexican means he loves spices and cooks with them whenever he is the chef. So when Cookshack asked us to review their rubs I knew he would be game. We received their Spicy Chicken Rub, Rib Rub, Brisket Rub, Chili Mix, and Spicy Barbecue Sauce all of which contain a perfect blend of spices and herbs to enhance the flavor of meat.
I was allowed to use one mix and that was the Chili Mix because I make the chili. The recipe I use is one I got from my dad’s friend a long time ago. To me it is the best chili in the world. The kind that makes you cry but you just keep eating. Then I have to visit the doctor because my acid reflux is having a spasm. Switching the my seasons for the mix was hard but I am glad I did. I still got the same grey flavor without the trip to the doctor.
With acid reflux it means no spicy foods or sauces, but i am married to a Mexican who can look you in the eye, tell you it is not hot then allow you to taste it knowing full well that you are going to lose all feeling in your tongue and lips. He has been adding Spicy Chicken Rub and Spicy Barbecue Sauce to the meats and other foods. They are not as hot as I thought they would be, more of a mildly hot flavor.

My guys deer hunt and we also buy beef from a family member. They smoke meat now but these smokers are so elite. I know expensive, but then the best things in life ARE!
