As a homeschooling mom I am always having to develop and plan science projects for the kids. I have found that they learn better when things are hands-on but I know that I don’t always come up with the best projects. I more or less use the tried and true classics (volcano with vinegar anyone?) Thanks to Groovy Lab in a Box I don’t have to do a whole lot of planning and the kids get to do fun projects.
Groovy Lab in a Box is a monthly subscription service that brings these amazing boxes right to your door. Each science kit offered by Groovy Lab in a Box has been created to inspire a child’s love of learning! Each kit has also been designed by scientists and educators with the promotion of critical thinking in mind and utilizes the STEM method of education: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! Sounds super technical huh?
We were very honored recently to have received the kit, Here Comes the Sun which has everything you needed to complete a couple of projects, all with a sun theme: a Solar Balloon, a Solar Oven, and a Conductivity Tester.
I really like the Lab Notebook because it not only gives you the instructions for each project but also has Brainstorm sections where it talks about different things and have blank pages for notes. It really gives your child everything he or she needs to complete everything in the box. As a teacher I must say that this notebook is better than most text books.
Groovy Lab in a Box offers four subscription plans to choose from, or you can get a one time only box. I know this is something that we will be using throughout our school year this year and beyond!

I will have to let my son know about this. His fiancee’ and he have 3 kids but also she does day care. Even for people who do not home school, this would be SOOOO COOOOOOL for summer projects when kids are out of school and winter projects (for us in the frozen tundra;) when the kids are shut in. Their oldest would especially love the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math content. They are awesome little cute nerds who love to learn. That’s such an asset these days and so proud of them for being so interested to learn! I was not so much and wish I had been into all of this.

My girls ADORE doing science projects. We got our oldest a couple of science kits for her birthday and have learned about acids and bases and some other concepts, like absorption. It’s really fun for me, too! I will have to check out this company’s offerings. The box you reviewed sounds really cool and well organized.

I love this idea! My kids love science projects also like some of the commenters. I like that everything comes with including directions. I don’t know if I would do a subscription but being able to buy one at time sounds perfect.

What a fun idea! My kids would totally love this! We are major geeks in our house and would totally enjoy doing these types of projects. I like that you can buy one at a time instead of having it come every month.

I’m always hesitant about subscription boxes because I’ve gotten some that were quite disappointing, but this looks like a great box for kids and adults. It seems very educational and a ton of fun. I know I’d enjoy it as much as my kids. Thanks for the ‘find’!
