For those of you that have been following me for a while you know that we are fast approaching my travel season. I typically spend the holiday season on the road and you never know when I may be away from home for months. Typically that is no big deal but I discovered last year that not having a health plan in effect was a big no-no. I ended up having to go to the emergency room several times last year for things that honestly should have been an office visit. This year I am much more prepared because I will be using a health app. In fact the wonderful folks over at Convenient Care Now even gave me a free visit so I could get the full experience. Although you should note that Convenient Care Now is ONLY available in New Jersey!
Convenient Care Now by Hackensack University Health Network is a leading health app and I really wished it worked in my state. It is only available in New Jersey but I was about to test it as I said. It is an on-demand video consultation with a board certified physician 24/7 from anywhere. It can be used on your phone, tablet, or even your computer. The biggest thing that I loved was the price! An office visit averages about $82 for first-time patients according to the Healthcare Blue Book. I think in my area it is actually closer to $125 per visit which can really put a damper on your wallet. Convenient Care Now offers a $49 physician visit! You read that correctly!
I had a visit with Dr. Mia Finkelston (that’s her above) to discuss my blood pressure and she was wonderful. She told me that I needed to go ahead and see my doctor because she would adjust my medication. Remember since I am in Georgia she can’t do that for me but I would LOVE for her to be my doctor. She answered all of my questions, explained what was going on and what she thought I should do about it—including seeing my eye doctor just to be sure that it is only my blood pressure causing the headaches
So you can see why a health app is the MUST have tool when I am traveling this year. One of the great things is that I can have a doctor no matter where I go and I don’t have to spend forever waiting! I waited maybe two minutes total before I was on with the doctor. We had no problem seeing or hearing one another. These doctors are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and if you have a family you know how awesome that is. Also I don’t have to worry about if I don’t feel well enough to drive or anything. There is no rescheduling and making appointment to fit my schedule. They can easily treat me for a variety of issues:
- Bronchitis
- Sinus infection
- Sore throat
- Urinary tract infection
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Fever
- Pinkeye
- Flu
- Sprains and strains
- Cold
- Respiratory infection
- Headache

I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.

Our health plan at work just added an on-call doctor hotline 24/7 that can even do some prescriptions. It’s no cost to us.

That is awesome! I bet it is great to know that you have that sort of access.

Convenient Care Now is great. This will help so many people who are unable to get out and go to the doctor in person.

We just had mandatory health insurance meetings and found out they are also adding a nurse practitioner and chiropractor clinic on-site at no charge to employees. So excited for that access.

I would love to be able to use a service like this. I don’t have a car, and being sick can be dreadful if you have to be out in the cold waiting for several buses. You can’ expect everyone to give you rides only once in a great while, so this would be SOOO nice!

This is really awesome and convenient! There are people who live towns away from their doctors, or simply don’t have jobs that just allow you to take off! Simply amazing.
