We just finished having a great little party which was my very first Mommy Parties Party (say that three times fast.) I enjoy hosting parties and still haven’t gotten great at the photos but I am working on that end. The best thing about this particular party was that I was able to work in a little homeschool lesson (for my kids) and some culture.
Hearts for Hearts Girls are a charitable doll and fashion line from Playmates Toys that empowers girls to become agents of change in their communities, their countries, and around the world. The are eight dolls in the line which were inspired by real girls from real places around the world. Each doll is authentically dressed and lifelike with her very story. When a doll is purchased a portion of the price is donated to children’s causes in those countries. The dolls are:
- Lilian (Belarus)
- Rahel (Ethiopia)
- Nahji (India)
- Tipi (Laos)
- Consuelo (Mexico)
- Dell (United States)
- Lauryce (United States)
- Zelia (Brazil)
We received two dolls for our party along with other supplies. The idea was to allow Victoria to keep one doll and raffle the other off during our party but have you had a little girl try to choose. In the end I made the choice for her because she just couldn’t decide and will be purchasing a couple of others for Christmas because she just fell in love.
If you have never been to a party in a Mexican home then let me explain to you that while I was sent party supplies for 20 more around 50 showed up. You see in Mexican homes it doesn’t matter whether it a girl’s party or not everyone comes. I put together goody bags filled with bracelets, Passports (a photo copied one of the 20 I received so everyone would have one) and a few other items.
We made foods from around the world including tamales and Ethiopian Party Punch which was very good. The above picture is some of the kids lined up at the food table. I am not even going to tell about the clean up but that is another great thing about Mexicans, they all help clean up!
We also played a few games including the classic Mexican Hat Relay. Of course no party is complete without the pinata! We broke the pinata early because for some reason I always put chocolate candies in there. I have no idea why but I do.
We raffled off little Lauren shown above and Victoria’s friend Haley won her. The sad part was the other little girls not getting a doll but I am certain their mother’s will all be making purchases soon. Hearts for Hearts Girls is the one toy I will be suggesting to all of my friends and all year long.
**I was selected to be a Mommy Parties host as part of a promotional program with MomSelect but all opinions are 100% my own.**
I live in a small Georgia town that you most likely have never heard of and I LOVE it! My house is more than full as I am a single mother of four & caregiver to my aging mother and uncle. Lover of all things Outlander. Goes to the beat of her own drum woman.
