Most of you already know that I gave up coffee a couple of years ago. I know drink tea each morning and have a cup or two throughout the day. It’s something that I have discovered I enjoy. So when I came across Sips By I knew it was the monthly box for me. When they agreed to work with me I was over the moon.
Sips By is, as I said in my unboxing, a monthly tea subscription box. You take a quiz letting them know things like preference, flavors, etc and then you get four different teas, enough to make 15 cups, all for $15 a month. How awesome is that? Each box is put together just for your and your tastes. Each box also contains a little card that tells you about your tea and how long to steep it for.
I received my first box this month and many of you my have seen my unboxing the other day. I could not believe how much tea was actually in this box. There were four teas but the little box was full to the brim.
My favorite tea was the Dandelion Red Chai from Teeccino. This is the perfect wake-up tea. It is antioxidant-rich and provide stimulation without caffeine. There is one ingredient I hadn’t heard of, rooibos, but I just dove in cup first. I was also a little worried about the spices since a lot of spice affects my tummy the wrong way.
I didn’t have this problem at all and I have already purchased more of this. It is my new morning tea. The smell when I make this is so good. I sit, reading the paper, and just inhale my tea.
The most aromatic to me was the Strawberry Popover White from Fava Tea. The moment I opened the little bag I could smell the strawberries the second I opened the bag. Also I can re-steep this tea twice which means I can make a single tea bag (when I put the loose tea into bags) last for more than one cup.
Now, this one is low in caffeine and has ingredients such as vanilla, rose hips, and of course strawberries among other things. I drink this during the afternoon as a little treat. Something when I need a little pick me up without adding a ton of caffeine.
The Calming Gaba from Esteemed Tea Collective has low caffeine and is the tea I drink at night when I need a cup. I typically don’t drink tea in the evening or at night but every once in a while I drink a cup and unwind from the day. This is a loose tea and the leaves expand as they brew. Another good thing it can be re-steeped so I can share a cup with Ma. Neither if us like really strong tea.
Finally there was Dragon Pearl Jasmine from Harney & Sons which I am torn about. I only had jasmine tea once and I was surprised that I liked it all. This was good but I’m not sure if it going to be one of my favorites. Maybe after I have another cup or two I will be able to make a better decision about it.
The little bag above was full of disposable tea bag which make using loose tea easier. I have a tea strainer but I find that I like the bags better.
I can put the tea in the bag and then add it to my cup and pour my hot water over it. I think it steeps better that way but it just my opinion.

My daughter loves tea, so I would give this to her. But I think a tea subscription box would be neat and a great way to try new teas.
