How many of you are considering giving bibles this year for your holiday gift giving? Well, if you are or maybe you aren’t but are now considering it I have the perfect bible to give. It’s the CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible and it is simply beautiful. Bibles are the perfect holiday gift for those on your list who are religious and you don’t know what to give them. Trust me when I say you can never have too many bibles. I have a shelf full and I use each one differently. I have one that is my church bible and this one is my bible study bible.
The CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible was released on 9/15/20 ans is a Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translation. That means it is written in the language that we speak today. It makes reading and understand the bible much easier for most readers. When you read this bible it is going to be as though you are just reading a book. This is one of my favorite translations of the bible because of how easy to read it is.
First thing I noticed about this bible was that it was heavy. It is much heavier than your standard bible which told me it was full of information. In addition to the regular bible it includes over 1,200 images, maps, and illustrations. These are simply beautiful additions that make the CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible a must on my holiday gift giving list this year.
As you are reading and studying the bible you will also find 275 full-length commentary articles and 40+ “Digging Deeper” call-outs which I loved. The introduction to each book of the bible provides you information about who wrote it and what it contributes to the bible as a whole. That is something that I have really gotten from other bibles. I like knowing what each book brings to the bible as a whole.
With the “Digging Deeper” call-outs you get more information on the subject. For example one of my favorites is about the Dead Sea Scrolls where we learn more about them such as when they were written, the languages they were written in, and more.
The CSB Holy Land Illustrated Bible comes with two ribbon markers to help you reference between pages. There is also a Table of Weights and Measurements in the back to help you understand the difference since we no longer use most measurements referenced anymore. There is also a Concordance which is an alphabetical list of the words present in a text, with citations of the passages in which they can be found.
As I said this is a heavy bible and I think perfect for bible study but you may find that it works better from home or if you are carrying a bag. I take it with me to Bible Study because I can slip in my bag. It’s too heavy for me to carry to church with me but that is because I’m lugging kids and all kinds of other stuff. That being said it is still a wonderful bible that I am getting a lot out of. I like having the pictures because honestly they make the bible seem less boring.
