Holiday Gift Guide: Axol & Friends

Dec 20, 2019 | Rita

Are you ready for a plush that has a purpose? Well that is exactly what Axol & Friends has. This simple little plush is doing so much that I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this company before. Now that I have you better believe I will continue to support and follow them.

“Axol & Friends is a socially-conscious startup that designs characters in the image of endangered plants and animals.” Could you want more from a company? Well, a portion of every sale is donated to their youth empowerment program because they believe children can change the world.

Can I say that I love the box he can in? It was inside the outer box you see in the image at the very top. This one actually spells out his name in cut out. Is that not just cool? You get a little peek into what he looks like. Although, I will tell you I had no idea what sort of animal Axol was.

Axol is an axolotl salamander which is a rare species native to small lakes and canals in Mexico. I had no idea! I thought he was super cute but I had only ever seen one salamander in my life and it certainly wasn’t this cute. His pink things are gills and he is sometimes called the Mexican walking fish for the way he moves.I hope y’all learned something with me. All I know is that Sam adores him and I we are learning a lot about rare and endangered species now.

This is truly a unique plush and I love the idea behind it. I think it is something that I will continue to give the kids each year so they can learn about all the different endangered species. I reminds me of the polar bear animal we got Sam last year because of a conversation that left him saying he wanted a polar bear. He wanted a real one, we settled for a stuffed one and a donation to help save them.
