Holiday Gift Guide: Click and Grow

Dec 04, 2012 | Rita

I am the world’s worst plant person. I don’t have a green thumb anywhere, it more like a I kill every plant that I come across thumb. I have an uncle and a cousin who are the best gardeners in the world. God bless they try to tell me what to do all the time but to be honest I could kill a rock garden.

I recently discovered a products called Click and Grow that allows you to grow plants and herbs with no effort at all. I know you think I am being crazy but it is true! All you need to do is make sure the unit has ample water and the plant has the necessary sunlight. That’s it. You don’t have to worry about forgetting to water your plant or feeding it. Click and Grow is a square flower “pot”. Inside a contained section of the box is a round area filled with soil and seeds. All you need to do when you remove the Click and Grow from the packaging is add batteries and water. That’s it! Click and Grow does the rest.

Click and Grow automatically waters your plant when needed. The unit keeps check of the water, fertilizer and air and delivers the necessary things your plant needs. There are sensors in the flower-pot set up for the specific plant you are growing. The sensors know when to deliver more water or food when you plant needs it.

The starter kit contains everything you need to get started. All you need are batteries and water. You don’t even need to worry about planting the seeds. It’s already done for you. Everything (seeds, nutrients…) is all in the cartridge. You can replace the cartridge as needed whenever a plant dies. You do not need to purchase a new Click and Grow pot. It can be reused over and over again. The  downside us that the plants don’t live as long as plants grown in a more traditional way. Most Click and Grow plants last from 4-12 months (each plant has it’s own life cycle).

Now this is cool! My son loves to plant but I am terrible at it so this would work wonders.

I am a gardener and this is pretty nifty- I need to take a look at what they have to offer because I miss my garden in the winter. The chili peppers look like a good plant as does some of the herbs (yep I had to check it out while I was typing this)
